Technically, there is a cotton core on this cord, but the exterior is not cotton or rayon. It must be a synthetic material. It is much stiffer than I had hoped (I want a floppy cord for gifts). It did soften up a little bit in the wash, but not as well as an older piece of cotton/poly cord I have.

This gold cord exceeded all of my expectations. It is a lovely tone of metallic gold, nice and thick and of great quality. Moreover, the price per yard was a great value, and it arrived in 1.5 days during the holiday period. Very satisfied and will likely buy other colors!
