I bought this in hopes of charging my Midland handhelds out on the trail if they ever went dead. This does charge my handhelds and the plus side is you don't need a large double cradle charger in your rig. The downside is that you cannot use the handheld while it is being charged with this cord. I don't believe it states this one way or another, but I can attest it does not.I will probably just buy a couple extra batteries as well to have charged and keep this in my Jeep as an emergency backup if I would ever need. It still beats having to try to find a spot for the large double cradle charger that came with the radios.UPDATE: After charging with this cord for 5 hours, my Midland radio went dead after 14 minutes. I did this again and charged for 6 hours and it went dead after 18 minutes. Will be returning.
