We purchased these for our vermicompost.**** Pros *******These worms come in a sealed container with worm bedding. They pretty much cling to each other in a giant ball, so you can plan to dump the entire contents into your vermicompost.*** Tips for Use ****Make sure to set up your vermicompost bins well in advance. You need to have cardboard or other shredded material for them to use as bedding. It should be moist but not soaking in water. Then when your worms arrive you can dump them in. Leave the lid off your bin for 15-30 minutes so that the bin is exposed to light. The worms will retreat and you can cover it once they are all off the surface. Let your worms settle a bit before you try to feed them. Your first feeding will be just a small amount of kitchen scraps (avoid onion, garlic, peppers, or other foods the worms might find "spicy"). And make sure to keep your bin moist. As time moves forward, your worms will grow and start eating a little more each time. But go slow, they really don't need that much food until they reproduce.**** Cons ******Package specifically instructs delivery drivers and postal workers not to leave outdoors, but sometimes they don't read the warning. Ours was placed in our post office box! Luckily I was keeping track of the shipment, and I would recommend that you do the same so that you can get your worms indoors as soon as possible and not have them out in the heat/cold.

I released them in my garden beds and they seem to be making the soil so much better.
