This is a hefty chunk of glass, and the weight helps it get down into the thick honey. It works great for jars of honey, very convenient for transferring it to a drink. It does feel a bit fragile where the head meets the handle so it should be treated with care. I sent it through the top rack of my dishwasher and it survived the wash, though it would really take no time at all to handwash this item.

I've been wanting a honey dipper and was recently disappointed when the wooden one I ordered arrived broken. I was afraid to try another wooden one and was very excited about this one. It's pleasingly large, with a delightfully smooth rod that has a nicely polished rounded end. The dipper is well-formed, with wide ridges. There are some areas inside that look sort of like folds, but I cannot detect any defects. Mine arrived double-wrapped in bubble wrap, then rolled in a bubble envelope and sealed, and all that packed in an Amazon bubble mailer. No damage at all. I am looking forward to many years of service from this beautiful dipper.
