I have a new dump trailer and when I last used it, it was rather heavy and I could feel the trailer pushing me at stops. I realized I had a Hopkins trailer brake controller from my last truck that I never installed. I read the directions and found that my 2000 F150 will have a factory connector under the dash for a quick installation. I found the part number and ordered it. When it arrived I checked and it matched the connector under the dash and the wire colors matched the controller.I soldered and shrink tubes the four wires (you could use butt connectors if needed), plugged it in and it worked. Note, when the trailer isn’t connected, there will be an “E1” error code which means the controller doesn’t think the trailer is connected.Two holes drilled into the lower dash and it’s installed. If you butt connected this, it could be a 10 minute job. Works great, easy and clean installation!

Wired it in to Curt brake control & plugged it in to my Ford pickup , hooked on my RV & off we went! Just be sure & check the wiring color code.

Color code is not the same so it takes a few extra minutes to intsall. I take brake controll out of my chevy and put in ford f250.

Works fine on my 2008 F-150. The color coded wires even matched the F-150 wiring.

It works and is about 25% of the price of one from ford. Be awear of the cost of shipping. It makes this bargain not so much of a bargain.
