This book gave a detailed account of Ms. Resa's life and career. I couldn't put the book down.

I saw the author interviewed on NPR and she was a compelling, well-informed person, so i bout her book. It is readable and interesting and is as much about leadership and the development of critical media communications organizations as it is standing up to a dictator. She discussed her life (part memoir), her career (CNN before going to Philippines media) and various communication platforms in a 'developing and evolving' country - the Philippines. I am halfway through and will update as needed.

The Philippines was the test case for what the US is experiencing now. We need brave journalists and media to accurately document and report on the corruption and the erosion of our rights at the hands of the new Trump administration. Maria Ressa offers hope that we can stand up and fight. #HoldTheLine

The book is quite worth reading. But the title of the book is better than the contents of the book.

Maria Ressa documents her experiences, as a journalist, with the use of social media. Unfortunately, the use of it for political purposes, driving public opinion by hitting our emotional responses of (mostly) hate and anger, has overwhelmed the journalists dream of using the Internet to inform the public.

Nobel Peace prize winning author . Captivating , autobiographical , non fiction. Non fiction not really my favorite genre but this book grabbed my attention. Especially poignant

Have you wondered why otherwise rational and open minded people in your life have become radical and inflexible? Have you wondered how we have become so divided and angry? This book explains the impact of social media and how it is abused by autocrats to gain and hold power. Reading the experience of the Philippines is like looking into the crystal ball for the future of the US and others. Very sobering.

Una historia alucinante que conecta mucho con el poder de la información

"A thousand cuts" is the way this Nobel Peace Prize laureate explains how online social media can be used to insidiously destroy democracy.I especially liked the way Maria Ressa, a professional journalist, offers expert, caring advice about how consumers can protect themselves and their private information by understanding difficult but important issues like emergent behavior, surveillance capitalism, and primary extraction. The book concludes with a 10-point plan to address the information crisis presented together with co-prizewinner Dmitry Muratov at the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo in September 2022.
