This means that nearly 1/2 stop more light is entering the lens while yielding the same polarization effect, maintaining color balance while improving contrast and clarity. CONTROL REFLECTIONS Since light reflected from non-metallic surfaces polarizes, the HOYA HD Mk II CIR-PL filter makes it possible to control which light enters the lens, giving you more creative avenues to improve your image. One such avenue is the reduction of reflections, for example, on water surfaces. With the HOYA HD Mk II CIR-PL, you can greatly control and remove reflections, allowing you to show the natural colors and details of submerged objects. If, like me, you sometimes opt for something more expensive than a "toy" lens, you'll have bought quite a lot of UV or plain filters so you're not fretting about messing it up the moment you take it out of the bag. I tend to slap a protective filter on before a lens ever goes on the camera.Yes, there are cheaper protector or UV filters out there, but sometimes when you're buying one to protect your fanciest lens of all, you have a nagging sense that maybe it's worth going all-out to avoid the filter being a quality bottleneck.Hoya do not mess around, their filters are very reputable. This is a slim and sturdy filter which seems to be great and doesn't add noticeable flaring, softness etc. to my very fanciest lens. No regrets.
