Polarizing filters simply cut through unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass in addition to light reflecting off moisture and pollution in the atmosphere. This results in bluer skies, greener leaves, reduced or eliminated reflections on glass, and greater clarity in your final image. HOYA's polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot. How to select the correct Polarizing filter: PL (Linear Polarizing) and PL-CIR (Circular Polarizing) filters have nearly identical effects, but it is important that you choose the correct version for your camera. Many of today's cameras use semi-silvered mirrors or prisms to split the light entering the viewfinder in order to calculate exposure and focusing distance. PL (Linear Polarizing) filters can sometimes interact with these items to give unpredictable exposure or focusing. So we recommend that you choose a PL-CIR filter unless you have a manual focus camera that has no beam splitter. Linear polarizers are more effective in studio lighting situations where a polarizing gel has been placed over the main light source in order to remove reflections from a non-metalic surface such as water or glass.

The filter arrived on time packaged in a plastic case in a vacuum packed shipping bag. The lens fit easily onto the threaded portion of my Bower 650-1300mm telephoto lens and works exactly as advertise. One thing though, when the Hoya 95mm filter in installed on the Bower 650-1300mm telephoto lens the lens hood does not fit over the filter. The filter's outer diameter is too thick, thus not allowing the lens hood to be mounted. Finding filters at the 95mm size in a wide selection can prove to be a bit of a challenge. Hoya has a made a good filter for your picture taking.

I ordered this for a Christmas gift and it came in plenty of time. The only complaint I have is the case it came in was cracked when I got it, but the actual product had no damage.
