My husband and I have been making a lot of cutting boards and have just begun to work with epoxy. I had envisions of using this template to groove out the shape and fill with epoxy but some of the details, especially the beak, are narrow leaving me unsure as to how well it'll work. Perhaps using a smaller tool, such as a Dremel, may make the process easier but I'm sure it'll take a bit of practice to get a clean looking image. My first impression was that the cut of the acrylic was poor as there were a lot of "shavings" along the edges but removing the protective film produced a much cleaner jig so don't jump to conclusions that the jig is poorly cut. Overall the quality is nice, thickness is decent and there is enough border around the image to hopefully clamp or tape down. The price is nice and my only issue is with the finer detail but hopefully with practice I'll be able to produce a product that looks like the image.

These acrylic templates are thick and sturdy. They are suitable for routers, but I will be using them for drawing the patterns on scroll saw projects.I gave them a decent twist to test the strength to see if they would hold up. I did not try to break them, but I put enough strength into it to feel assured that they won't easily break by accident or during use.You might see what looks like frays, but that is from the protective covering. I choose not to remove it to protect the face of the templates a little longer. If I remove the covering, the template will be smooth. The templates are thick enough for using a router, but some of the corners might be a bit sharp for a wide blade.I believe the template will work well with an inlay kit as well.

Nicely made. Very sharp, tight corners, though.

I ordered this to use for inlays in certain wood products (like fish cleaning boards or beach-themed pieces). I was disappointed that the 2 pieces are not the same size. There is no documentation on how to use this for inlays. If both the inner and outer piece were the same size, you could use a flush trim bit for both the recess and the inlay. But since the inner piece is smaller, you would need to either use a guide bushing with a smaller router bit or a "flush trim" bit with a larger bearing. There is no guarantee that you would find a combination that works successfully. If this truly can be used for inlays, there need to be some clear instructions.
