First of all don't listen to those YouTube videos where they remove the whole freaking Dash. Seems to work fine, a little bit worried because this car seems to have it replaced once before. The problem is with the gears that are plastic and prone to self-destruct after a while.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe. I started having a loud sort of knocking/thumping sound coming from the dashboard. It went away when I had the a/c on, but when I turned it off the sound went away. I have taken good care of this car, but I'm waiting for the day when it goes. I know nothing about cars, but I typed "dashboard noise 2002 Pontiac Vibe" into Google, and up popped a You Tube video made by a guy with my exact car that was making the exact noise. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, he said it was this blend door actuator, showed how to install it, which seemed easy, and fixed it. Anyway, I looked on Amazon, found this thing, took it to my mechanic and he installed it in about 30 minutes and it's fixed. I haven't had any other problem. I can't believe that I diagnosed the problem myself and actually found the part I needed.

This product was perfect because it immediately fixed the 'clicking' noise caused by my 2006 Pontiac Vibe airbox blend door.Tip: This is an EASY repair. 5 screws and 1 bolt hold in your 2006 Pontica Vibe dash board. Takes 15 minutes to remove the dashboard , 2 minutes to remove and replace the blend door actuator, 15 minutes to reassemble the dashboard. A novice can do this job. A dealership wanted ~$1200.00 for what I did in literally ~32 minutes. Disconnect negative battery cable for airbag safety reasons.

So far so good. The OEM actuator lasted for 15 years. I installed an LCWRGS unit ,in June of 2021, but it only lasted 2 years. Going to try this one this time around. Easily visible and accessible by removing the glove box. I did not remove the dashboard like some YouTube videos tell you to do. I timed it and it took me less than 10 minutes start to finish. I only removed one screw for the glove box shock to get the glove box out and nothing else needs to be removed to access and remove the actuator. You don't have to have small hands to do it (I wear an extra large glove). Just use a 5.5mm 1/4" drive socket to remove the 2 screws, that hold the actuator, with your fingers. You may have to break them loose with a ratchet but after that, turn them out by hand with the socket. If you have any ability to work by feel you can install it without removing any other parts. Hope this one lasts a little longer but if it doesn't I will update.

This was the part! This little unit that I was just introduced to when looking on Amazon. Little did I know that this part is compatible with a 2004 Ponitac Vibe, and is what is needed when a dreaded clicking noise is happening under the dash, when the “Recirculation” button is not pressed on the blower…”click, click, click, click”...So, the easiest way to replace this lil’ bugger is to remove the top of the dash. It sounds like a lot, but the Vibe/Matrix is one of the easiest cars to assemble/disassemble the dash. There is just over half a dozen screws and that's it. Just find that helpful YouTube video, and all you need is a Phillips screwdriver and something like a plastic dash removal tool. It will take about 30-45 minutes to complete. This fixed the issue and now the vent/recirc blower door can operate properly; and no more clicking!
