Used to mix small amounts of plaster in a mud pan but now it just but the premixed products for smaller jobs and use this hawk with an 8 inch knife.

Great soft handle I love the fact the handle is hallow you can place it on pole at top of scaffolding I would recommend this to a friend absolutely I use that feature all the time. I Drywall professionally and I have put on about 85 hours in the last 2 weeks and It is obvious that when the company Hyde designed this hawk that either they were drywallers themselves and had in their minds what a perfect hawk would feel like and feature it would have or they talked to many drywallers and listened to drywallers on what they wanted in a perfect hawk. The Hyde company in my opinion built the ideal hawk for drywallers based on what they wanted in a perfect hawk. I also like the way that way that the hawk has a ring between the handle and the SS sheet of metal allowing the hawk to be spun with ease to have the ss top to spin to get to mud on other side of the hawk. Great hawk I would definitely buy this product again and I would definitely recommend it to a family member or friend.

I am a DIYer and have been drywalling/mudding seemingly endless walls in our homes. I always used a tray and had been eyeing "the hawk" for years since I had seen some professionals use it. I don't know why I bought it earlier. The tool is fantastic and easy to use. You just put as much compound on the hawk as you need (can get heavy though if overloading!). Also easier to fill up the large drywall trowels with mud. Clean-up is a breeze, you just scrape off the excess and can either wipe off or clean under water... SO much easier.The only "issue" I had (me being a novice) is that I at times bumped the hawk against freshly mudded walls, when I had to mud corners etc.. Guess practice will alleviate this.Would highly recommend if you are debating getting a tray vs. a hawk.

So I’m a serious DIYer and a part time contractor and I hate sheetrocking. I used the good ol assortment of knives and trays. I’ve done it that way for as long as I can remember. On a recent flip I decided to change it up a little to a hawk and trowel. I quickly discovered that I’ve been doing drywall wrong for my entire life. The trowel method is 100x easier and cleaner. Leaves a much better product. WAY less sanding and way faster. If you’re on the fence like I was, go ahead and buy this. It’s worth every penny.

I really liked learning how to use this tool. Cleanup was easy. It made a great lid on a 5 gal bucket so I could use the leftover mud 1 or 2 days later. It keeps your knife clean, easy to wipe on. I could create little volcanoes, add a bit more water, to make some smoother mud for a specific application. And the handle was a dream to hold vs anything else I've used in the past.

I bought one of these for my nephew and he has called me at least ten times letting me know what a great tool this is. The padding around the top of the handle makes it so much more comfortable that the old hawk he had. Also the hollow handle allows him to put the hawk down wherever he is working. He said he had one like it many years ago but it had been pilfered on a job site and none of the stores around sell these. He had thought they weren't made anymore. He was so excited he called his father, who lives in another state, to brag. Well he ended up buying two more. One was bought for his father and one to keep on hand "just in case"

I am so glad I ordered this tool. I am 65 years old and female. I went to the hardware to find one. All they had was a big ole heavy thing. I looked online and compared several. I am working on an older home. I am only 5'1" and weigh 115 lb. I wanted something that wouldn't wear me out.There was another one that was more expensive but I chose this one.It is perfect. It's smaller but it works for me.After I repair the house maybe I'll repair the car. Laughing!
