Ready to Serve Up Classic Hollowbody Tones The Ibanez Artcore Expressionist AMH90 is quickly becoming a favorite among guitar players at Sweetwater. Its hollow body is made from linden for a mid-forward sound while the center block stops feedback in its tracks. The axe’s dynamic duo of Super 58 humbucking pickups for a classic sound heard on countless pop and rock recordings. The AMH90 also has an easy-playing 3-piece nyatoh/maple neck, a bound ebony fingerboard, and attractive abalone inlays. On the hunt for a classic-sounding hollowbody with the comfort of a high-performance guitar? I don't know why the price was nearly 25% less than what everyone else is selling these for, so I was a little concerned that it was a used and returned item. I am happy to say that it is brand new, still in the original factory packaging, and the guitar was in great shape with no visible blemishes. The serial number indicates that it was manufactured in November of 2022, so the seller probably reduced the price to move the "old" inventory out. If you like the color and style of the guitar, the price is a steal! After tuning it up to pitch, all the electronics worked perfectly, and I was able to get the tones I wanted out of it. It does that "smooth jazz sound" very well. An unexpected benefit is the unamplified sound - it is louder than a solid body electric but much quieter than an acoustic, so it's great for late night noodling when everyone else in the house is sleeping! Not an issue to complain about as it does not affect the playing experience, but the fret ends are not quite as smooth and polished as on my Ibanez AF95 that is the same "Artcore Expressionist" build, fit, and finish quality level as this guitar. Fortunately, I have the right guitar setup tools to be able to deal with this issue when I get around to changing the strings to flat-wounds.The AM series body is slightly larger than typical electric guitars (LPs, strats, teles, etc.) and slightly smaller than most semi-hollow body guitars (ES-335, Casino, etc.), so if you're accustomed to playing electrics or semi-hollows, this archtop hollow body guitar will feel quite similar. It is also about as "thick" as those other guitars and doesn't come close to the depth of my AF95 or other "jazz boxes".
