Came with a 9-volt battery, Champ. Chap. Little thin on the nut width, but it gets bigger moving towards the sound hole. Feels sturdy, won't try the amplification for awhile, but tuner is nice, and I just wanted to say that is really cool for 25,000, fun to learn on and I'm 6"1' 230 like hearing the tunings. Might have to buy one in all silver and turquoise. I would put 4.5 stars, if it was there. It has low string-height action, so you could play faster. It seems like it would fall over, easily, beca7se it is oblong; I've got mine on a stand with no problems. Edit- the tuner is not accurate with precision. It's tough but it can be done by using the other strings.I, usually, practice in silence, and it has a nice, little-bit metallic sound, indoors with the stock strings. CNN makes it sound like nothing, unplugged. And, believe it or not, it has a scratching sound on bends and vibratoes. I believe it's the strings against the fretboard. It could be super ethereal. I think that's it.

Got to use the guitar on a few gigs and I really like it. Plays very well and sounds great thru the PA.

I bought this guitar to replace a high-end Ovation that was stolen.I liked this one after getting used to it.The action was average out of the box -- I watched a video of a guitar repair person from a well-known guitar supply store and found out an average action is 90 thousandths of an inch at the 12th fret. I bought feeler gauges and measured the action when the Talman was strung to pitch and in the playing position. The gap between the bottom of the strings and the top of the frets was about 90 thousandths of an inch = average action.Thinking I could get a better action (as acoustic guitars can vary in action), I bought a second one and the action was the same on that one. My hands got stronger the more I played them and I am not as hindered by the average action as I was when I first bought it.It doesn't resonate as much as my guitar that was stolen, but in fairness, this is a thin-body acoustic guitar that can be amplified. So it's not meant to be as full-bodied as my Ovation was, or a thicker acoustic guitar. It stays in tune well too. Overall, I like the guitar and hope it lasts a long time.It has stayed in tune for the 2 or 3 weeks I've had it, and the tuner works great. I think it looks fabulous and it fits my body shape pretty well. Overall, I'm pleased with the instrument given the money.
