I love my auto ice maker. It keeps my guest from going in and out of my refrigerator. It looks nice on my bar. I just wish I had purchased the bigger size ice maker to prevent having to constantly refill the machine with water to make more ice. However, this only happens when I have a lot of company which is most of the time. But I'm afraid it does refill within 10 to 15 minutes. Great product.

How is this ice maker so amazing at such a small size and price?!? It makes bullet ice so quickly and without too much noise! It is easy to use and set up, without overly complicated cleaning/set up issues. The ice is nicely sized, doesn’t clump together! I can’t believe this is portable too! Just get it and stop wasting money on much more expensive and complicated models!

I picked up this Antarctic Star Ice Maker because I have been wanting to try one after running out of ice all last summer due to filling coolers and drinking lots of ice water during some really hot nights. I also wanted to have one in case I forget to take my large, insulated cup of ice to work daily for my drinks - I like my drinks cold (I only have a mini fridge at work with a tiny freezer - it takes forever to freeze a tray of ice cubes)First off - I like it! Out of the box - it's heavier than I thought it would be. I think the brushed steel looks great. After finding and removing "ALL" the bits of packing tape, I added the handle, gave it a quick clean, filled it with water to the fill line, turned it on, and then ran it through a cleaning cycle. Next I refilled it and started it up. It dropped 9 fairly small bullet ice cubes into the basket 7.5 minutes later. I tossed those in my insulated ice water bottle. 7.5 minutes later I did that again and I was good to go for the day. The ice was soft and clear. I like the bullet shape because I feel the increase in surface area of the ice should cool the drink faster. I went off and did a bit of work and the next thing I know there was a half basket of ice ready to go. I didn't think the ice maker was all that loud when operating - but it's not silent. My only complaint so far was it was a little hard to "Intuitively" figure out if I was turning it off or putting it into a standby mode initially, when I hit/held the power button. I think a green light, red light, no light LED power button scheme would be a nice addition.I am already looking forward to the summer. I always ending up using all the ice in the refrigerator ice bin to fill large, insulted mugs or to fill coolers for fishing, keeping drinks on ice in the car when I'm out hiking or biking, and when heading out to lakes for the day, etc. which leaves no ice for drinks at home. Running this in tandem with the fridge, I can get ice for drinks in as fast as 7.5 minutes now. I am hoping my solar generator can power this portable model, also. I was at a concert in the dessert last year (tents and coolers) and it was 94 degrees out. Ice was costing a ton at the venue and melting fast. It would be great to keep the bagged ice in the spare space in the coolers and use this fresh ice for drinks. Fingers crossed that my generator can handle the wattage.All in all - I am very happy with this product.

This is a great little “personal” ice maker. It’s perfect for making enough ice for a drink in under 10 minutes, and of course it can make enough for several drinks if you wait longer. I like the machine overall, but there are also a couple of minor things that I think could be improved.PROS:• The ice maker is compact and feels well made.• It’s easy to use. Just remove the ice basket and pour water in. A glass full of water will make a bunch of ice cubes, or you can fill it up to the full line to make even more (but the basket will eventually get full and you’ll need to transfer the ice cubes to another container).• It really works! In my kitchen at 66 degrees, and using water from my refrigerator, It makes a batch of nine ice “bullets” in 8 minutes.• The included handle makes it easy to lift and move around. Note that I forgot to attach the handle in my photo.CONS:• The instructions could be better, especially for initial cleaning. They say “clean the interior with diluted detergent, warm water and soft cloth, then use the water to rinse the inside parts”. Do they mean you should actually make ice cubes with detergent water? If so, should you then make more cubes with pure water to rinse out the inside parts?• There is a drain plug on the bottom for removing water before storage. You should use that as turning a refrigeration device with a compressor like this upside down isn’t really good for it. But getting a grip on that drain plug isn’t easy. Also, the instructions don’t specify if you should turn the plug or just pull straight out (it pulls straight out).NEUTRAL:• The bullet shaped ice cubes have a hollow center and they do melt quickly. I popped one in my mouth and it was gone in less than a minute.• The ice tray isn’t cooled, so the ice cubes will eventually melt and drip right back into the water reservoir. You probably will need to transfer the ice into your freezer if you want to make a bunch ahead of time.• It makes a little noise, like many other kitchen appliances.OVERALL:• I’m giving this four stars because it works great if you don’t need a lot of ice fast. But they could improve the instructions a little.
