Initial installation fit OK and worked on BMW 1995 530i E34. old item broke as they often do. Recommend drilling or grinding a access hole to release cylinder lock housing while key is turned to run. look at YouTube for tips on how and where to locate the access hole. (nearly impossible to slide a shim down side of cylinder to release it)

If your ignition rotates freely and not engaging starter this is ususlly what breaks. Alot cheaper and easyer than buying the whole steering lock housing.
