We love this game. We bought it due to its size for backpacking and we use it all the time. At home and on trips. It has a great little tube to keep all the dice safe.

Farkel is a very nice and fun game. The tube is bigger than I thought and you could make your own set for way cheaper. Still, I’m glad I have it!

I love sharing classic games with my 8 year old son, and I think they make great gifts. I have played Farkel before, and I think it is fun and educational. This version comes in a small but eye catching package. It is 4" by 7 1/2", which is a great size for stocking stuffers or Easter baskets.Everything packs up into one small shaker, so it won't take much room to store and will be great for travel too. We usually don't even use the shaker, so the small size isn't an issue for me.One thing to note is that this set comes with rules, but score sheets are not included. You can make your own score sheets by writing on paper or search online for printable score sheets.Could you play this game without buying anything? Sure, if you have dice and find the rules. But, this is a nice set for gift giving and has a handy storage container for the branded dice. All that makes it more appealing to kids and increases the chances they will choose it to play.

Since my grandsons live out of state, one of the things I look for in games is that they are relatively lightweight and don't take up much space. Whether mailing the game or carrying it in my carry-on luggage, big, bulky board games and other types of large games just don't work for me. I had never heard of the dice game Farkel prior to seeing it on amazon, but as a kid I grew up playing other dice games and know how simple and yet fun they can be. Farkel is easy to learn and can be played with as few as 2 people, which is great. My youngest grandson has discovered it's a lot easier to entice just one other person to play a game than it is to get the whole family to sit down and play. Farkel is a combination of luck and basic strategy, but mostly luck, which means that everyone has a pretty fair chance of winning each time the game is played. The dice are stored in a small plastic canister with a pop off lid, so it's easy to store and no trouble to carry along on a road trip or a plane flight. I consider this a good game for a good price, and very giftable.
