Bad design. When you attempt to cut a piece of 1/2" pvc it seems to begin the cut ok, but then the upper arm contacts some flanges on the lower arm preventing the second half of the cut from happening. Attempts to stop it, manually align the lower & upper arm were unsucessful. When half way through the cut there's no way to apply enough force to get the cut going again. Bad design. Those flanges on the bottom arm do not need to be there. They serve no purpose and hinder the objective. Zero in my book. Look elsewhere.
