Does not work - started leaking almost immediately. Use the American Standard original equipment replacement part.

This product works exactly as it should. I replaced my gasket last time with an American Standard gasket for the Champion 4 valve. It lasted about 2-3 years. Over time tiny bubbles form in the gasket that causes it not to seat correctly. This 2 pack of gaskets is a good idea. For less than half the price I paid for the OEM gasket, I replaced the faulty one and have a backup for the next time (probably in another 2 years). If you have a Champion 4 and your toilet is running intermittently, make this the FIRST thing you check. Since i replaced mine a little over 2 years ago, the gasket seemed like the last thing I would check (usually regular flapper valves last close to a decade).

In researching what could be wrong with two of my American Standard toilets, I came across a utube video that described the possible reasons for the running of my toilet and what needed to be changed. I decided in lieu of calling a plumber why not attempt to see if I could rectify the problem. Amazon offered the kit at a very reasonable price. The kit arrived in a timely manner, well packaged and with instructions. I successfully changed the o ring and seal with no problem. Definitely recommend as my issue is now resolved.

I had a leaking American Standard Champion 4 toilet. Reading various articles stated that these seals can deteriorate and need to be replaced. I ordered a set and all components came in the package. While I was waiting for the delivery, I continued to search and read about this seals. I found one seal solution that said to take a needle and pop the water 'cyst' on the seal. I had probably 4 or 5 of these 'cysts' on the top/bottom of the seal. Once popped, press the 'cyst' until the water is removed. Once I did this and reinstalled the old seals, all has worked well for months. I have kept these seals as a backup since I have 3 of these toilets and at some point, I might not be able to easily fix the leak with a needle.

I have an Am Std toilet, model 4266, and it was "running". I saw the term "ghost flush" in other reviews, and I don't know what that means. That term seems to suggest that the toilet flushes all by itself. That's not the problem I'm experiencing. The problem I have, well, the problem I HAD, is that the water in the toilet tank would slowly and quietly leak or drain into the bowl. This would lower the water level in the tank, and subsequently the float valve would open and the tank would refill. The observed symptom is, the toilet is intermittently refilling. We can hear the water filling the tank, at odd times, when no one is using the bathroom.I bought this gasket-and-o-ring package based on positive reviews on Amazon, and sure enough, installing it requires no tools, took 5 minutes and fixed my problem. So I'm happy. But I want to share something that might save you some additional $$. The main problem in my toilet was not the gasket, which is the large blue silicone? ring included in this package. The main problem was the o-ring.I am not sure, since I am not so captivated by this question as to devote further time to testing my theory. But when I pulled off the old gasket, it looked fine. It was not warped or bubbled or anything. Just fine. However when I pulled out the old o-ring, it was shrunken and deteriorated. This was almost surely the cause of the leak.I'll bet that if I had replaced just the o-ring, my problem would have been solved just as well.OK, How does this save you money? Well o-rings are $0.10 at the local hardware store, instead of $8 for two as part of this package. If you don't mind spending the time, do this: Turn off the water supply to the toilet. 2. flush it to drain the water tank. On the top of the flapping valve, turn the wingnut a half turn counter-clockwise and pull out the nut. On it you will find the o-ring. Pull off the o-ring (use a paperclip or something similar) and take it to your neighborhood HW store the next time you go. Install the replacement and turn the water back on. Your problem might be solved too.To be sure you need THIS thing, inspect the gasket. If it looks poor, then replace it. Mine looked just fine, but the o-ring was bad.I'm giving 5 stars because it fixed my problem and worked as advertised. But there may be cheaper ways to fix your leak!

We purchased 3 American Standard Toilets with the canister flush just a little over 1 year ago and have been very happy with them until one started to ghost flush. I had to do a lot research before I figured out what was possibly causing this issue. I finally found some reviews and feedback that might address my problem. Now to find the parts. I live in the Midwest and near a large city and figured it would be easy to find these parts. Oh how wrong I was. Lowes, Home Depot, Sutherland Lumber, Walmart and several other places I checked didn't have them. I then found this online and said It looked really good and the price was great. They arrived a day or two ahead of time and was surprised and happy. Now to the replacement. The replacement directions are very straight forward and easy to under stand so no problem there. The only problem I had was that the Top Nut was Very Very tight and I kept worrying I was going to break-it taking it apart. I read the directions several times before I had to get a pair of pliers to break it loose. After that it was breeze. The next install/replacement will take me under 5 minutes or less it is that easy. The culprit was little blisters that formed on the big seal that was allowing it to leak. I don't know for sure, but would guess that maybe the Clorox Bleach tablets I have in the tanks is causing it. I will be ordering more and Highly recommend this product. Having both seals and 2 of each was a Big Plus. Thank you!
