we have a swimming pool but no pool heater. once the kids are on summer break they always think the pool is hot enough to go in. because it's sunny and hot outside it must be also hot in the pool. now with this device we can easily monitor the pool temperature inside the house. instead of constantly going outside and putting their feet into cold pool water.the display has the battery level of the temperature probe and temperature of the pool. the display also gives the temperature of the house humidity and it has a automatic atomic clock. it can change from Fahrenheit to Celsius, military time or 12 hour format.it was really easy to set up. I took out the temperature probe and push the top button and it turned on. I put in the supplied batteries into the display and it immediately started communicating with each other. I just had to change it from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and to 12 hour format thru using the top buttons.now the kids can do their chores and check the temperature of the pool from the living room. and if it hits anything above 80° degrees they know its chilly but they can tolerate it.I thought the design and build quality looked excellent. i had no issues with the distance and reporting back the temperature. great device!

This solar pool thermometer is amazing!! We can see the water temp and other i for.ation before heading out to the pool. Set up was super easy! Replaced our old school thermometer that you had to read in the pool! The remote transmitter as well as the display on the floating thermometer is awesome! I highly recommend for any pool or spa owner!!

This solar powered pool thermometer is so easy to use! The Bluetooth connection to the receiver is very long range as well. It also monitors the temperature and humidity from the receiver to monitor room temp! Over the past week the Bluetooth connection has remained very stable and the temps accurate even during cloudy days.

I recently purchased the INKBIRD IBS-P03R Solar Powered Wireless Pool Thermometer to monitor my pool’s temperature, and I’ve also used the ThermoPro Digital Pool Thermometer for comparison. Here’s my detailed review of the INKBIRD, with insights on how it stacks up against the ThermoPro.Setup and Ease of Use: 4/5The INKBIRD was fairly straightforward to set up. It synced with the indoor monitor in about two minutes, and the instructions, while not perfect, were clear enough to get it running. The solar-powered feature is a big plus—no fiddling with batteries like the ThermoPro, which requires AAA batteries that need replacing every few months. However, the ThermoPro’s setup felt slightly simpler, with a more intuitive interface and fewer steps to sync the floating sensor to the receiver. If you’re not tech-savvy, the ThermoPro might edge out slightly for ease of use.Accuracy and Performance: 4.5/5The INKBIRD delivers accurate readings within ±1.8°F, updating every 10 seconds, which I verified against a manual thermometer. It’s been consistent in my pool, even during cloudy days, thanks to its solar-powered battery that lasts up to 30 days on a full charge (and up to 3 months in less sunny conditions). The ThermoPro is equally accurate (±1.8°F), but its readings sometimes lag slightly, taking a bit longer to stabilize when first placed in the water. The INKBIRD’s exposed probe seems to respond faster, which is great for real-time monitoring.Range and Connectivity: 5/5This is where the INKBIRD shines. With a 980-foot wireless range, I can monitor my pool from anywhere in my house, even through walls, without losing connection. The ThermoPro, with a 300-foot range, struggled occasionally when the sensor was on the far side of my pool, especially if there was a concrete deck in the way. The INKBIRD’s ability to connect up to three thermometers to one monitor is also a fantastic feature for larger setups or multiple water sources, something the ThermoPro doesn’t offer.Durability and Design: 4/5The INKBIRD’s IP68 waterproof rating and seamless design give me confidence in its durability. It’s been floating in my pool for three months without any water seepage, and the solar panel keeps it powered without issue. However, I’ve read reviews mentioning failures after 6–12 months, so I’m cautiously optimistic about its long-term durability. The ThermoPro, with its IPX8 rating, is also waterproof but has a less robust feel, and some users report leaks around the battery compartment over time. The INKBIRD’s design feels sturdier, but its white casing has started to yellow slightly from UV exposure, whereas the ThermoPro’s darker finish hides discoloration better.Features and Value: 4.5/5The INKBIRD’s indoor monitor displays pool temperature, indoor temperature, humidity, and max/min values, which is more comprehensive than the ThermoPro’s simpler display. The ability to set temperature alerts (78°F–86°F) is a nice touch for maintaining ideal pool conditions. Pairing it with the INKBIRD app via the M1 WiFi Gateway (sold separately) adds remote monitoring, which is great for checking temps while away. The ThermoPro lacks app integration, which feels like a miss in 2025 when smart features are becoming standard. Price-wise, the INKBIRD is slightly more expensive, but the solar power and longer range justify the cost. The ThermoPro is a budget-friendly option but feels less feature-rich.Cons and ComparisonThe INKBIRD’s instructions could be clearer, and some users report issues with customer service response times, though my experience with their support was positive (they promptly replaced a faulty unit). The ThermoPro’s manual is more user-friendly, but its battery dependency and shorter range are drawbacks. Neither is suitable for saltwater pools, which is a limitation if you have one. The INKBIRD’s solar feature and extended range make it a better choice for larger pools or tech enthusiasts, while the ThermoPro is a solid, no-frills option for smaller setups.OverallThe INKBIRD IBS-P03R is a fantastic choice for pool owners who want reliable, long-range monitoring with eco-friendly solar power. It outperforms the ThermoPro in range, features, and battery convenience, though it’s slightly pricier and has a learning curve. If you prioritize simplicity and lower cost, the ThermoPro is decent, but the INKBIRD’s advanced features make it my preferred pick. I’d recommend it for anyone looking to keep their pool at the perfect temperature with minimal hassle.

I’m giving this 5 stars because it’s a great pool thermometer with lots of features. The in pool thermometer is solar powered. You turn it on, drop in the pool and leave it for the season. There is an indoor receiver with amazing features. The receiver reads the pool temp, allows you to set preferences for what is comfortable and then reads back cold, comfortable, or hot based on your preferences. It even records and shows water temps over the last 24 hours. It also reads the temp inside the house and the humidity level inside the house. It even has the time. And this is where I got frustrated. The time was wrong and needed to be reset. I’m a pretty educated person who can read and I read the directions front to back, line for line. The directions tell you what to do once you are in the setting mode, but don’t state how to get into the setting mode. I watched YouTube videos, but none were this model because it’s so new. After 45 minutes I scanned the QR code on the box and watched a product features video. There was a quick glimpse of the setting button. I have circled it in the pic below to save you from the frustrations I had. The rest was easy. You insert the batteries into the receiver and turn on the in pool thermometer and they automatically pair. The directions leave a little to be desired, but you can scan the QR code for videos. The display is small so takes up no space but has large, easy to read numbers. My pool is quite a distance from where I have the receiver and I haven’t lost connectivity. Overall I am really happy with this. It has a great design and features and the in pool thermometer seems to be air tight.
