First used my buddy’s FatBoy elevate w/60mm ballhead two weeks ago on a hunting trip and I immediately disposed of all my other tripods.

Junk, if you do more than just go to a shooting range, like anything else outdoors, skip this piece of junk. Cracks like glass. Contacted Fatboy support, "not their problem". Warranty is worthless, read the small print.Going back to my RRS Anvil-30 ARC Ball Head, they stand by their products.

Well that's not what your thinking its because I ended up with two ball heads and two tripods and was that impressed I keep the both of them one for me and one for the other half. They are almost as stable as shooting of a bench with practice

I’ve had 5 tripods for Coyote hunting all lacking quality in the ball head. The Fat Boy ball head is on another level. Very smooth and great control with the locking ball and side handle.

No other tripod or ballhead comes close to matching the quality of FatBoy

After using this I really like the qd lever it is easy to secure the rifle with gloves in the dark.Had to get used to the one knob. This thing is really nice looking as well. Expensive but really nice.Cons- It does not seem to lock down the rifle as rock solid my BH-55 without having to really reef on the handle.Does not pan individually or have a tension adjust lever and keeping cant out of the rifle is not as easy-PROS- it is simpler with less knobs to fiddle with and I really like the qd lever set up so easy and secure with one lever throw. If I have to disengage my rifle in a hurry I prefer this ballhead. It is half the weight of my previous ballhead and that makes the whole tripod set up feel lighter to carry and even a touch more stable because of the center of gravity shift. I will have to do some more testing with different guns but it seems to lock down good enough with my heaviest rifle even though the pressure is applied to one side of the ball instead of a pinch point. This is made for rifles not converted photography equipment. At first I wanted to leave a bad review about a shipping issue to be vindictive but I just cant because I really deep down love the thing and it would have felt like lying. They didnt resolve my issue when I contacted them but at least called me personally to not resolve my issue....that is better than nothing I guess.

This ball head is amazing rock solid and the adjustment knob is nice being over sized and then doesn’t take much manipulation to lock and unlock the ball head would take this over other ball heads and leveling heads. The ability to mount to arca and picitanny is a huge plus if you don’t have arca plates.

Nothing I don’t like. Oversized grippy adjustment knob. Smooth range of motion. Built like a tank. QD lever is nice. Holds even heavier rifles flawlessly. Paired with the Fatboy Traverse tripod makes for a very solid platform. Don’t hesitate to purchase.
