This is beautifully crafted, the wood has a pleasant scent and it’s unfinished and smooth all over. The pressed rice will be 2-15/16” in size and can be cut right on the mold, using the slots. You can cut it into two or four pieces or leave it whole, it’s very easy to use. The dove tailing is tight and clean and the press fits perfectly inside the frame as does the base. This is hand crafted in Japan with great attention to quality craftsmanship. It’s works very well and it’s fun to make. Never put this or any wood in the dishwasher or soak it, just wash and dry it by hand and let it air dry. This is a wonderful mold, I love it and highly recommend it.
