Sure, you COULD go with a cheaper battery from some off-brand "company."But when it comes to batteries, I don't like to risk it. They are a huge fire hazard. And sure, they may do their due diligence and actually be good with the chips they have to prevent overcharging, overheating, etc. But I didn't want to take that risk.Could I have gotten more use out of a lithium alternative? Maybe. Could I have saved 75% by going with a no-name alternative? Yes. Could I have lost everything due to a house fire? Not impossible, but I don't want to find out.Maybe I just have trust issues. But I am pleased with this battery. Our Goodwill Roomba (880 series) was a measly 17 dollars. So, I have a new Roomba for 117 vs. 3x+ a new one.

After trying to save money, I bought 4 of the aftermarket fake batteries. None of the fakes lasted more than 2 months. The value of buying this is real. It works and installs easily.

The seller refused to refund or solve my issue. The battery died after less than 6 months of use. Every time I try to charge the battery an error 5 occurs. The battery is a copycat of the original battery.

This is exactly what my Roomba needed and I didn’t even know that was the problem!But this battery is great, and was not all that expensive, it seemed worth the risk so I bought it I tried it and I can’t believe it! It holds a charge forever, it does my entire one bedroom apartment on one charge!I totally stopped using my Roomba because for too many years the charge would die too quickly and I figured it was getting old (20 yrs!). So after becoming somewhat disenchanted with it, I just stopped using it about four years ago.Then I was about to get rid of it recently when I thought maybe it just needs a new battery (duh) but I figured the battery would be ridiculously expensive-only to find out the battery wasn’t the problem.But not only did it need a new battery I guess it needed a new battery 10 years ago too lolGame changer -I forgot how exciting it is to have a Roomba, my floors have never been cleaner.Also really glad I wrist going with the brand name!

It's really not a true "review" on something like this if written right after placing in service but here goes. "Robert" my iRobot Roomba was pretty much dead and when he passed he passed fast. Looking back I saw evidence of his failing. He didn't want to leave home long, didn't have much zest for life and would poop out early in the party. Finally he would leave his house (dock) crawl forward a foot or two then faint crying "charge me!." He had been with me maybe 2 1/2 years and danced for me daily save on Tuesdays - his day off. It was true love from the beginning as far as I was concerned. I called up his birth mom to make sure my diagnosis of a fainting heart was correct. Very helpful. Before buying, I went on line with Amazon to compare prices for heart (battery) replacements against those of his birth mother. I found his bm sold on both sites but priced lower on the big A site by about ten bucks. I also found they offered replacements for Robert's original heart plus a new extended life version. I bought the extended version. Honestly, Robert's worth every penny and more! I did surgery on the kitchen counter. It was easy peasy even for an old lady with arthritic appendages. I cleaned him up good while I had him anesthetized. I do this daily but he got a good cleaning under all arms and legs that day. Oh my, Robert is doing the happy dance now!! He seems to go forever! Not only that but it seems his new heart helped his memory. He can find his way back home better now than he has for a long long time. All is well in our world now. My floors are clean again under this indian's bare ole feet, I hate that crumbly feeling when retrieving my morning coffee. Robert is his jazzy perky self again. Presumably it will be years before Robert ever needs a transplant again. Oh one thing to be aware of - heart replacement does mean temporary situational memory loss. Robert needs to be reprogrammed all over again. I think I'll give him Sunday off in future- just like me.
