About this item

  • Highest Quality Reproduction!
  • Carbon steel blade
  • Scabbard complete with belt loop

New Made Item: A very high quality reproduction of the well known fighting Knife used by Italian & Axis troops during the time of Benito Mussolini from the early 1920s until 1943 in WW2. Featuring a double-edged blade with steel cross guard and wooden grip secured by two steel rivets and steel pommel. This dagger is comes complete in an all steel belt scabbard with angled belt loop. The scabbard front is embossed with the Fascist logo of the famous bound axe and rods over M.V.S.N., which stood for "Milizia Volontara par la Sicurezza Nazionale" known to the rest of the world as the Blackshirts. This second pattern MVSN dagger, unlike the first pattern, was completely and originally manufactured to the designs of the then new Fascist Party specification, and it was intended to serve both as a dress dagger and as a useful combat knife. A good many examples were carried by conscripted members during the Second World War and later became war trophies. This is a historically significant dagger, replicated with great care and exactingly quality. Approximate Blade Length: 8.5 Approximate Overall Length: 13 Note: This is a very unique design and even though it appears that the blade is on backwards it is not. Please see page 76 of the fabulous book: "Fighting Knives" by Fredrick J. Stephens

1. Poor polishing job. The surface appears all wavy as if some spots were polished more than the other, resulting in the metal being removed unevenly.2. Zero sheath retention. You can lose the knife by just jumping up and down, while wearing it.3. The edge is not just dull, it’s completely unsharpened. So to make it sharp you will need professional sharpening equipment. With a basic sharpening stone it will probably take the entire day. And that’s only if you know what you are doing. Because you have to shape the edge, before you can sharpen it.

This is a nice knife. It seems solid and looks great. The problem is, it arrived with no edge whatsoever. I'm talking butter knife. Also the inserts for the sheath just fall out easily, making it unsecured and Ricketty. That being said, I do like it, going to keep it (price was right) but I have to address those issues before I will love it.Update: I was going to return it but, the seller told me the steel would take an edge. The high quality, historical significance and low price make it well worth the extra effort or expense. This truly is a high quality reproduction and IMA was very prompt with their response.
