Cost too much for what it is, doesn’t come with cross bar but should for the price.

These metal straps hold my Wrangler roof rack securely. They are very easy to use and very easy to install. However, they did start rusting and leaving streaks of corrosion down the car’s paint after about seven years. Because I put them on and took them off frequently, the padding that protects the surface of the roof started to deteriorate, leaving the padding thinner and a residue on the fiberglass.

Love the product. It’s built well. So far so good with no problems. I will buy more from Surco for sure. Easy to install, instructions were vague but easy to figure out. I didn’t even have to lift the hard shell. I am going to add another UB53 bar and 2 GM100 gutter mount for extra strength.

I'm using this kit combined with the Surco (UB53) Black 53" Urban Crossbar on my 2009 Jeep Wrangler 2 door JK. I specifically wanted a rack to transport kayaks and/or a canoe. This kit comes with the side/roof adapters for both the front and back. The back has the longer arms that go under your hardtop and the shorter feet for the front attach to the rain gutters on the freedom panels. You'll need to purchase the appropriate crossbars to round this out separately - either the 53" Urban Crossbar like I used which is more oval in shape, or the S60 60" Safari bars which are more square/rectangle in shape. I went with the shorter Urban bars because from reading about rack attachments in general, it seemed that a bunch of accessories have a hard time attaching to bars that are rectangular or square in shape (specifically looking at kayak j bar carriers). I also preferred the look of the shorter bars because they wouldn't stick so far over the sides of the hardtop like the 60" would. It wasn't difficult to install these. I needed a second hand to position the rear adapters under the hardtop (while I lifted it up from the inside) but otherwise once that was out of the way, I completed it myself in only a couple hours (or less). These are on pretty solidly too and the quality is great - I'm able to shake the Jeep just by pulling on them to test that they're secure.I spent a lot of time agonizing over what kind of rack to purchase and found myself initially looking at full cages. It didn't seem like there were many options in terms of a roof rack for a 2 door Wrangler other than cages until I came across this rack. I love that it's unobtrusive and seems to suit the look of the Jeep, and is relatively affordable for a rack. I didn't like how huge and bulky many cages appeared, and for the price of cages easily being double this one, many of the cages seemed to have hit or miss reviews on quality. I have no concerns over the quality of the Surco rack and appreciate that I can easily remove it whenever needed. Some drawbacks - this attaches to the freedom panels so if you want to remove them, you'll need to pull off the crossbar, but I don't think it'll really be annoying to reattach. I also read some concerns on forums around the wind dynamics of attaching these to the freedom panels and the forces pulling up on them (since the panels are only clamped/screwed in place underneath) and after driving hours on the highway with the rack (and with a 14' kayak on the top) there hasn't been any movement. I also read comments about wind noise but actually I haven't found them to be very loud at all. If you wanted to get rid of the noise you could wrap paracord around the front or put tape underneath the channel. Either way, I think that's to be expected with any racks and I've had noisier ones on other vehicles. All in all, I'm very happy with this rack, I expect it to last a long time and it's exactly what I was looking for to fit my Wrangler.

Hace falta más detalle en el manual para saber exactamente como se instala el producto y al requerir desarmar la cubierta dura del jeep implica que es más fácil hacerlo entre dos personas.

Not much info about these so I thought I would write this. First of all I love it I used this with the ub53 bars so I could mount my smittybilt awning on my 2015 JKU I ended up running 3 surco bars to totally secure the awning and added a basket as well I did switch all hardware to stainless. Loosened my bolts for my hardtop lifted 1 side at a time and measured to the mm and taped the brackets in place to the window so I could set the hard top back down then added the top mounts. The issue I had was the welded nuts to the side support were to low for proper fitment and there was a lip above the nut that I just cut off with the grinder and repainted the cut edge then everything went together perfectly. Great price looks good I would absolutely by this again and recommend it to you!

Easy to install. I made changes to it as I was using an alternate basket. Sturdy and good for some cargo to haul on vavcation

I have looked at other solutions ranging in price and installation requirements and this one fit both categories perfectly. First, it's not expensive and second, it's removable yet I can leave it attached and be able to remove the Freedom panels and, even take the entire top of it I wanted. No drilling or modifications to the top whatsoever. A big plus. Once fully installed these things are rock solid. When I picked up our kayaks the person who loaded them must have weighed 230 lbs and he grabbed the rear mount with one hand while with the other, lifted the kayak and himself onto the side of the Jeep making it tilt a bit sideways and the mounts never budged. Rock solid. I paired them up with the 53" Urban rails mainly because the 60" rails hung over the top just a bit too far for my liking. All in all, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a solid, well rounded solution.

I have this on my 15 JKU and I absolutely love it. I spent a long time looking at racks that I could put my kayak J racks on but on a wrangler it is either a full cage or cross bars that mount to the hardtop gutter rails. I didn't like either option because either one renders the freedom panels useless. The Surco rack avoids that by putting a cross bar over the back. It was easy to install and it is very secure, drove 7 hours with 2 kayaks with no issues. I would recommend a more permanent installation as there are foam pads that get compressed in the install and taking them on an off would render those useless and could scratch your top.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Bought a little over a year ago now and I have to say this is the worst jeep product I've ever purchased. Poorly designed and started falling apart about 5 months in. I had to go buy very strong adhesive tape and tape it to my hard top because it wouldn't stay on. Cheap cheap product, absolute waste. On top of that, didn't even come with the right bolts. Do not buy.

Just went 600 miles in stormy windy weather with our carrier attached. Not a single problem. Got the 53 inch surco crossbars and had to wrap them in black paracord to eliminate the whistle but knew that was possibly going to be an issue before the purchase. Have to agree with one reviewer...wish there was a torque spec as I feel I could keep tightening these until it would break the roof. Just tightened until snug and I can rock the Jeep back and forth. I feel very comfortable with these on my jeep and now have space for our dog and 3 kids when going on road trips and camping.

I would say this is just OK. It gets the job done, but is nothing fancy. I've used it on highway up to 80 MPH and on rocky trails getting my 70 lb kayak to the lake on a 2dr wrangler. With a load on it, the hard top really squeaks and creaks with every bump in the road. I was actually worried it could crack the hard top, but if it didn't happen on this last trip, I don't think it will.Another con I had with this is the instructions don't provide any torque specs, so I was really afraid to over tighten and crack my top or under tighten and lose my load on the highway.Assembly was pretty easy; the only difficult part was trying to torque down the front gutter mounts without scratching my hardtop. The nut is pretty close to the top and its a tight fit.
