Was able to eventually pry a base plate open, but can’t pry open the one for the battery. Can’t install battery…can’t use the bass. I bought this as a next-day delivery as an emergency replacement for a high school concert with hundreds of student performers. But I will have to return it, what huge pain in the @ss.Lesson learned: Jackson quality control is absolute garbage. I can’t imagine that a company that would make this mistake can produce an instrument of any quality.Save your time, money, and energy and buy an Ibanez.

This is a perfect bass for any bassist, it sounds great, it plays great, and it looks great. Its got a nice weight to it, which matters to me, I hate bass guitars that feel like they were made of Balsa wood… the flat black looks so good! Money well spent.
