This arrived nicely packed in it's own retail box (instead of a typical brown box) and is suitable for gift-giving to your favorite gardener. The tools/handles are easy to grasp and the larger one (for your feet) is very sturdy.Sturdy metal... nice colors.

I hemmed and hawed about getting this because I didn't want to store yet another large gardening tool. But then I ordered 75 hosta rhizomes and that sealed the deal. This was the perfect tool to make short shrift planting out the hostas. It really saved my back. I'm expecting another shipment (not quite so large) of day lily fans so I expect to use the tool for that as well. I'm glad I got this after all. I grow quite a lot of things from seed and I don't like digging so it turns out I should have ordered this many seasons ago.

Awesome add on to your garden tools. These things are sturdy, and by sturdy I mean I put my 160lb self on top of the taller piece and it did not bend or break on me.Super easy to put together, all you have to do is put some screws together for the handle. The small handheld piece already comes set up. The hardware that comes with it is pretty good quality and will not bend on you. Now, I have compacted clay soil, and Bermuda grass, so I choose to mow before using these, simply because the tall grass makes it annoying to cut the holes. These slid through bare soil like butter. For spots that already had something growing on them, I found it easier to twist as I pressed down, and it the edges just serrated through roots, even small tree roots (half an inch wide). The best part is, I had grown flowers in solo cups for planting out this year, and these made the perfect sized holes in depth and width for those. All I had to do was pop them in.This was also nice to cut an border along my new garden beds, since you can control how deep they go, I was able to cut down just enough to get rid of the turf and its roots. Will get again if these break.

Not.too hard to.put together and it definitely makes it easier to put plants in the ground because the strength is coming from your legs instead of your wrists. The only real downside is the footprint of this tool when you aren't using it, but if you have a normal garage, you probably have the space. Great idea for the gardener who has everything!

This is a good value tool for the money. It comes with an unassembled handle which takes about 5 min. and 4 bolts to put together. Once tightened, the unit is quit strong and should last for years. It works very easy to make a hole for planting bulbs or 3 - 4" potted plants. The hand tool is very nice. It has a button on the handle that flexes two halves of the tool apart, put in soil, release button, the two halve come together, grabbing soil, remove and you have a nice hole ready for a plant. Very easy, especially when you have hundreds of potted plants to transplant to the garden.

Started using my Jardineer same day I received it ,to plant some Easter bulbs and plants I got for Easter..Functions great and makes planting so much easier and fast.. Comes with the long one for using your legs to weigh down on it give it a twist and lift and you have a perfect hole and it comes with a smaller hand held version both function absolutely as they are supposed to and what you'd expect. Well built very strong metals and the foam on the handles give your hands cushioning . Not once did I feel uncomfortable or pain from this. To be honest my mother who is in her 80's was doing most of the work and she was smiling so that's a good thing.Very pleased with this purchase it is definitely a value for the money. Not heavy so it's easy to carry even for seniors..
