The steel borer bit is PTFE-coated for reduced friction as well as protection against rust and resin. Back threading allows for easy backing out of wood. The reinforced borer handle is color-coated for added visibility, protection, and a secure grip. The core extractor is constructed of stainless steel. Includes borer bit, handle, and extractor.

Works fine to begin with, but not built to last. In coring 150 trees in the past few months, mostly hardwoods, 2 of our 3 JIM-GEM increment borers have broken beyond repair (one got a big chip at the tip, one broke off 1" from the tip). We will not buy this brand again, though it may work OK for pines.

I used a suunto increment borer for 12 years with no issues. I still use it.This jim-gem is a piece of crap that lasted literally 50 trees and broke.Don't waste your money.
