used on a Canon 50mm f/1.8 II—The Plastic Fantastic—since that's what it's for lol it's a lens hood, it does its job well enough. the build is a nice stiff plastic, not super advanced or anything but also certainly not flimsy. i'd be more concerned about the camera body than the lens hood if the whole thing took a spill. that said, because its so stiff, it can be a bit tricky to remove in order to flip/reattach, but not impossible; however, that does tie into the only major gripe, which is in fact an unavoidable artifact of the lens' construction itself, so no fault at all to JJC, but the mount itself has to be screwed on as a 3rd piece in the puzzle. its super intuitive to install and use, but when removing (read: unscrewing) the hood itself from the mount, you may want to brace the mount with your finger or palm so it doesnt release from the lens filter threads.all that said, i paid 8 freaking dollars for this thing. i'll gladly buy another when (if?) this one breaks.

Works like it should. Make sure you order the right size hood as this will not fit 50mm f/1.8 usm

The Canon hood was better made but considering it is no longer available this is a good option. It does the job.

The thread on the adapter was distorted, so hard to thread on properly. The adapter and the hood are 2 lip design (not Canon's 3 lip design) so it won't work directly with Canon lenses. If you get past the low thread quality and just leave it on, it works fine, doesn't vignette.

I was looking for 62 mm lens hood. This one popped up to the screen. I assume it is 62 mm diameter. It is actually 52 mm diameter size. It did't fit to my zoom lens which has 62mm thread. Instead of return, I installed one of my other Nikon lens which has 52 mm diameter thread. Looks very nice and protective. Absolutely recommended.
