John W. Gacy (March 17, 1942 - May 10, 1994) American predator and serial killer known as “The Killer Clown” (because he regularly performed as children’s hospitals and charity events dressed as “Pogo the Clown”) assaulted and murdered at least 33 young men and boys between 1972 and 1978. Twenty-six of his victims were buried in the crawlspace underneath his suburban Chicago home.
He was arrested on December 21, 1978 and sentenced to death on March 13, 1980. On death row, he spend a lot of his time painting for people who wrote and ask him for his artwork, which supplied him with a pit of income while incarcerated. One of his more popular subjects to paint was him dressed as “Pogo the Clown” and he used a 4x6” family photo as a reference for his painting.
As his death sentence drew near, he painted less and less. He signed the photo he used as reference and gave it to a friend that would visit him in prison in the early 1990s. We obtained the photo from her in late 1999 and have scanned and used it numerous times over the years for various things.

I was skeptical ordering this for a creepy clown "exhibit", and was pleased to find it's very high quality. The print and matte surround arrived in a big priority mail/tracked envelope and very carefully affixed to a larger piece of cardboard to to prevent accidental bending. The seller also wrote in huge block letters "Do not bend". From the quality of the piece to the care the seller placed when making sure it would arrive damage free, this is a great purchase.
