This is a good expander as long as you take your time and be patient. Be cognizant of how copper pipe & tubing can word harden and take your time. Depending on the wall thickness of the pipe it'd be wise to go slow, test fit often, and did I mention to take your time? You'll reap great rewards from this if you're patient.

When I came across the Pipe Expander on Amazon Vine, I was intrigued by the concept of extending the opening of a copper pipe to accommodate another pipe for soldering or brazing. As someone familiar with copper's malleability, I was curious to see how this tool would handle the task without causing cracks in the pipe walls. Intrigued, I decided to order and try it out.The tool is well-crafted, featuring a steel body and two aluminum handles. Initially, it took me a few attempts to grasp the proper technique for extending and expanding the pipe's end. I turned to YouTube tutorials for guidance, which proved helpful. The key lesson was to apply gradual pressure while expanding the piping tip, avoiding any sudden movements. Unfortunately, in one instance, I expanded the pipe too quickly, resulting in a crack. Another time, I failed to pay attention to the alignment between the opening and the receiving pipe, resulting in an overly wide opening that did not provide a proper fit.While I cannot personally attest to the connection's ability to be soldered or brazed under pressure, it's worth mentioning that the Pipe Expander does allow for such connections. However, due to variations in tolerances, the resulting joints may not be as perfect as those achieved with dedicated pipe fittings made to precise specifications.Additionally, it's crucial to consider plumbing codes and regulations when using this tool for plumbing applications. As an artistic tool, however, the Pipe Expander has proven to be a suitable solution for my creative endeavors.In summary, the Pipe Expander offers a solution for extending copper pipes, but caution is required to prevent pipe cracking. With its sturdy build and proper technique, it can be a useful tool for achieving a good fit between pipes. While the resulting connections may not be on par with professionally manufactured pipe fittings for artistic applications and non-pressurized use, this tool provides a viable solution.
