This makes the pitching machine useable for a person. You can see when the balls are moving down so you can time your swing. Great way to get some hitting practice in.

The feeder works great. Just be sure you use the 12-inch balls. We tried it first with a set of 11" balls that we had been using with a T-ball stand, and boy, did it launch those balls in a hurry. You had to abbreviate your swing follow-through in order to be ready for the next pitch. On a hunch, we purchased a set of 12" balls, and the timing is perfect.
