IMO, this sheath is superior to the Ka Bar kraton mk1 stock sheath. It is a simple, repairable leather sheath and quiet on the draw.

Fits perfectly and frankly I much prefer this over the Kydex sheath sold with the knife. Very old school leather sheath.

Bought this sheath for an old hunting knife I've been restoring, with a blade approx. 5 1/8" long. Perfect fit, snap fits and feels solid, construction is good and has a great leather smell. A+ would buy again.

I don't like the Gerber sheath that my Strong-arm came with, so I bought this hoping it would fit, and it does. This is a good, simple and inexpensive sheath that hangs nicely from my hip.

My knife is an old Navy knife, I think issued to pilots, perhaps in WWII. I've had it since the early 60's, mostly laying in a drawer with an old sheath my dad found that was for a much bigger knife. I saw and ordered this, which is priced right, for sure - and it arrived fairly quickly, to boot. The knife fits perfectly in this sheath. The snap is firm, and the strap grips the knife handle. I have a pair of chopsticks wedged right now to make it a skosh looser. The sheath is well crafted of good leather, properly tanned, and all stitching and rivets look good, as does the KA-BAR USA logo. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I slathered on some sno-seal (which also had great Amazon reviews, of course), and put it in the toaster-oven at 150 for a short while. I'll add another coat and plan for this sheath to out last me. Good tools properly cared for - that's the ticket!

For the money, the quality of this sheath is very good. I bought this for a 5 1/4" survival knife that was not a Ka-Bar, and it fit well enough, and I'm extremely happy to have a solid sheath around it. Like others said, the retaining strap was too small to fit my knife's handle at first. Here is the technique I used to stretch the strap. Please wear thick gloves and be careful not to cut yourself doing this! Put another glove over the blade, can't be too careful. 1) Snap the strap closed with no knife in the sheath, then 2) twist the knife handle under the strap backwards, hilt first. Not too hard or the snap will open, just slowly twist. I was able to get the full thickness of my knife handle under the strap this way. Then let it sit like that for a few days, repeat as necessary until it is stretched enough.

I recently came onto a find at a flea market, a Western (Boulder, CO) fixed blade knife circa 1930s. The carbon steel blade was in excellent condition and had a gorgeous patina, and the stacked leather handle needed little more than a good drink of neatsfoot oil or two to restore it. The blade took a convex edge like crazy. I paid $7.50 for the knife ... a steal, I thought. But, there was no sheath, and nothing I had at home would fit it.After measuring the blade length and overall length, I found this Ka-Bar sheath and crossed my fingers. It came today and I am absolutely delighted with it. It not only fit the Western perfectly and snugly, but it is of better quality than I expected. It's good leather, stitched and riveted well, and the retainer snap seats nice and tight.I love the knife and can now carry it whenever I need to press it into service. I'm SO pleased with the sheath, I'd give it more stars if I could. The product is made in Mexico, if that's an issue for anyone. Not for me, though. It was the perfect solution for my problem. Simple, and inexpensive. Awesome.

Bought this to replace a sheath I bought for my Green River Hunter (from another site). That site stated their sheath had a welt. Well, they only had an essential understanding of what a welt is and what's it for. Because their sheath's welt was barely 1/8 on an inch thick and the knife sliced right through it (and the stitching). So, I bought this sheath and it fits my knife perfectly and actually has a welt thick enough to do what it's supposed to do. The retention strap had to be stretched a little to be able to snap close around the handle of my knife, but that was minor (especially considering the sheath wasn't made for that particular knife). Overall, as with the other similar leather sheath I've gotten with Ka-Bar knives it is a good quality sheath and should fit most standard 5 inch bladed knives. Not to mention at around $4 you can't beat the price. I paid three times that for the other sheath that turned out to be crap.
