Japanese Carbon Steel

The head is tough Japanese Carbon steel. It is compatible with a wide range of carpentry works.

Double Head

The head is flat on one face and slightly curved (convex) on the other. The flat side is for normal use, and the domed side is used at the end of nailing to avoid damaging the wood.

Heavy Duty Double Wedge

The head and handle are firmly fixed in place with a wooden and iron wedge hammered in a cross pattern, making it strong and hard to rattle.

How to use Japanese woodworking hammer

1. Chiseling

Great for hitting Japanese wood chisel. It enables accurate woodworking with a chisel, such as cutting, mortising, chopping, paring and shaping, etc.

2. Adjusting and setting plane

For Japanese block planes, it is essential to adjust the blade with a Japanese hammer. With the right adjustments, you can make the beautifully smooth wood's surface.

3. Nailing

It is an ideal hammer for hitting a nail. If you make a pilot hole with a Japanese woodworking drill (KIRI auger) in advance, you can nail more precisely and quickly.

Please hit with a flat face at first. When you nail mostly, change to a domed face for finish strike. The domed face head does not damage the wood surface.
