The banjo ukulele is recognized for its distinctive tone and ability to project sound in solo and ensemble settings. George Harrison favored the instrument in later years and recorded his song “Any Road” on banjo uke.

I am so disappointed...I returned the first one because of dents and scratches, and now at the very same places are dents and scratches. 🥺The only difference is there are also scratches on the metal ring that surrounds the drum head. However it sounds awesome...I love it and I hope the next one will be scratch free. I’m going to try this again and if I get the same results, I’ll have to return for a refund...and I really don’t want to do that...it’s a really nice looking banjolele and Kala is a great instrument. I have three ukuleles and all of them are Kala! So, I will try one more time. Once I receive the replacement, then I will rate it for money and durability. I understand things happen but I’m very particular and would not purchase an item that has scratches or dents if I saw it before hand. This does not change my opinion of Amazon...I like the convenience and have been shopping with them for many years now.Update...It is now May 7th, and I have not heard back regarding the return of the 2nd banjolele. I returned it on the 26th of April. I would like to know why it is taking so long for the return of the instrument to reach you ...and my refund.Thank youV Williams

This is more expensive than other made in China banjolele's out there, and I'm not convinced that it's THAT much better. However, I absolutely love this thing! The sound is super fun, both with the back on and off. I love the quality of the instrument. It came waaay out of tune, but that was easy to fix and once in tune, and the strings broken in, it seems to stay in tune a little longer than my traditional uke. This thing is super heavy compared to a traditional uke, and takes a while to get used to if you're not accustomed to a heavier instrument. The drum head is smaller than what is on most banjoleles, which I personally love.Overall, if you want a recognizable brand, have a little extra cash, and want something that looks *vintage*, this is a good buy. It has the look and feel I wanted but at a price that I think is silly high.If you're looking for a banjo uke that is unique, and want something made in the US, check out magicfluke or outdoor ukelele instead. They prices are lower and they are some awesome looking instruments, and you'll save about $75.

Gute Laune beim improvisieren garantiert 😀

Beautifully made and terrific tone. Fun to play and tone & pitch is perfect for the instrument.

Wanted to wait until I had played it awhile before I wrote the review. I was very pleased with the instrument when it arrived and that has not changed with use; it looks and sounds as good now as when I first played it. It arrived timely and well-packed (i.e. with the bridge not installed, to protect the banjo head, a Remo Weatherking, from damage in transit) and needed the usual banjo set-up to position the bridge (many YouTube videos describe the process, which is a simple one). A little on the heavy side among its peers, but it has a solid, well-made feel I like. Once set up, it has a wonderful voice, with a good amount of the distinctive banjo "twang", but with a mellow-ness that allows it to blend well when played with other ukuleles. Came with a gig bag that fits well.

This was a present for a friend who uses it professionally. She loves it and couldn't be happier with it. Great sound and easy playability.

Awesome little uke. I was having troubles shopping around for the right banjolele. After reading tons of reviews this was the winner. I mainly wanted this for a fun instrument to take out and about into the world (hikes, beaches, sitting on the bus). It is much heavier than a typical ukulele but that's not saying much considering your average uke weighs nothing. It's still plenty light enough to lug around and it was to my surprise that it came with a case as the description says otherwise. However, that could just be seller specific. I recommend purchasing from Chicago Music Exchange. Their shipping was incredibly fast, very well packaged, included the case, some picks, and guitar stickers! Back to the uke... the back is removable which takes a little weight off, but I like how solid and well build it feels with it on. The strings that come pre strung sound fine when you have nothing to compare it to, but spending $10 on Aquila strings to significantly brighten the tune is the best thing you could do for it. Love the look, love the feel, love the sound. Very happy with the purchase. just waiting for my strap in the mail and ill be all set! also I've seen some comments about a sting buzzing sound and mine is showing no signs of that, but can be cured with a higher bridge. Thanks!

Received this instrument today from Amazon. It arrived in the instrument box without any tape holding it together. Immediately upon taking the instrument out of the package I was worried about it. The bridge was knocked down loose and the action looked way shifted. I discovered the tail piece was way out of alignment, possibly from mishandling. After straightening everything and positioning the bridge to where it had clearly once been I attempted to tune it and play a little. The tone was "ok" but the action was terrible. When fretting the first string at fret one the string was buzzing against the second fret. I made several attempts to improve this but realized quicly this instrument was just not going to meet my expectations so back it goes. I'm very disappointed in this as I expect a LOT more from Kala.

Excellent Banjo Ukulele. Superb combination of a banjo and a Uke. Great, great sound and very easy to play. Setting the bridge was a bit intimidating (not having perfect pitch), but a there are several good youtube videos that can guide you along. The packaging was pure bomb proof. It was in the included case, inside the factory box, inside another huge box with bubblewrap. As this was a gift, I wanted to be sure that there were no Christmas morning disasters. Not even close. This is a closed back BanjoUke (Banjolele?) and it fairly heavy. Apparently one can remove the back to reduce the weight, but I wouldn't want to mess with the tone of this lovely Kala instrument. Very pleased with the seller, Kala, and the end product. If you play the Uke, and you know you want to add to your collection, this is one to really think about. Enjoy.
