The black-striped ebony top on this uke is beautiful. It has a great sound both naturally and through an amplifier. The built-in tuner is a major plus! I'm happy I upgraded from my beginner Donner uke to this one.

This is my favourite ukulele I own. I have a few ukuleles (a kala baritone, then some lower budget brand - soprano, tenor and banjo), I brought this to upgrade my lower budget tenor and it is so great. It looks great (quite a unique wood effect), it sounds great (I put a low G string on mine, just my preference) and it is really good value for money. Highly recommend

Sounded great for price when I initially bought it. In less than a month it is in playable. Any thing played on the 4th or lower frets causes more than a buzz, but a muffled buzz. Almost as if the top nut has sank so much that the action on the strings are way too low. Do not buy.As a reference, I have 2 ovation tenors, a Kamala 8 string tenor and a Kamala concert

Very beautiful. Sounds nice and warm. The only thing is that it doesn’t stay in tune very well, and I will meed to tume it every half an hour. Hope it stays in tune soon.

This ukulele is absolutely beautiful. I think I'm in love.But in all seriousness, this is a lovely and gorgeously mellow-sounding instrument. I've had zero issues with pitch whilst playing. That being said, nylon will not maintain tonality in the same manner that steel does.Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Kala has earned a loyal customer for sure.

If looks could kill this one would kill for sure. Unfortunately the electronics in this little beauty killed themselves. Kala needs to step up the electronics finish out for sure!! I played this thing for about 2 days. Unfortunately within the first few hours of playing the low battery light came on. I got new 2032 3V batteries for it and I was able to play for several hours and then it fried out. I did notice on one of the reviews elsewhere a reveiwer mentioned loose wires and a rattle in/near the volume control box. I noticed the same rattle but no loose wires, just sloppy wires.I would give it a three and a half star rating for non-electric playing. It is fun and loud with a good bit of sustain. Slight plastic sound, but I seem to like it anyways.I bought this ukulele for the electronics option. Unfortunately I am returning it due to the faults that it has. I hope that Kala works out these issues soon.

Just like the other reviewer said, get the Kala trim line. It's a great quality ukulele with nice workmanship, quality tuning pegs and a beautiful sound. I had purchased a Kohala KOGS model on Black Friday from another music retailer - it sounds like and is built like a children's toy. So I purchased this Kala KA-P and boy, what a difference! I also love the pineapple body, so great. I also recommend the music book "The Daily Ukulele" (also avail on Amazon). It's got tons of great songs - 365 to be exact.

This is good for what it is trying to be - a decent starter uke that sounds good. Not close in quality to one of the original Hawaii "K" brands, but certainly good enough to start plinking around and learning on. Stays in tune pretty well after the first few tightenings.My son enjoys playing this one and we have another Kala Concert sized uke that I play too. Both good for the price.
