I like the specimen but it’s been glued together and that’s a sign it may be a casting with paint. It came with a certificate of authenticity but I’ve seen experts on YouTube say to be careful of glued halves. My sample is almost glued right through the middle, which is a common method for making molds.

The item came fast and looks very cool. I had a little problem in shipping but I reached out to Kalifano and they fixed the issue with outstanding service. I would recommend this company to any person that asks about where to purchase fossils. My son wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up and he's going to love it for Christmas. The first couple of images KALIFANO attaches makes it look like you're going to get a very well prepared fossil. You get what you pay for, the fossil is one 2.5cm, and more closely resembles the later photos. Just don't expect you'll get one with as much detail as the initial photos. Definitely won't see details of eyes, etc. Still good to have something that's up to 500m years old.

I love this b/c it sparks conversation. It's super cool. Can't really say for sure about its authenticity even though it comes with a certicate. It looks a bit fake up close. But I still like it.

The specimen I received looks very much like the photo shown. It arrived in a plastic pouch with a info card in English, Chinese, and Japanese. Apparently the company, Kalifano, has shops in Vegas, too.The trilobite I received is about 0.75" long and 0.50" wide embedded in matrix about 1" high. The total dimensions when looking down upon it are about 2.00" long by 1.75" wide and sits about 1.5" tall.It's not a large specimen by any means but the segments and lobes are well defined and the faceted eyes can be seen quite well.I nice bit of 300 million year old natural history at a good price point.

*UPDATEKalifano reached out and replaced the broken specimen with a new one that did not have any breakage. Customer service was quick to respond to my issues. The replacement is much more in line with how it is depicted in the product picture. My main take away from this is if you are unsatisfied with the purchase reach out to Kalifano and they will probably help you to make it right.Stand and trilobite was obviously broken and then re-glued. The thought of having a million year old specimen of a extinct creature is much cooler then what is actually sent out. Would not get something like this again over the internet. I would recommend waiting and trying to get something similar in person.

The piece looks great, however, it doesn't look like what is pictured. I contacted their customer service to see what their options were to possibly get an exchange. The person I bought this for loved the product headline picture so I was hoping to get something that looked like that. Customer service took a week to respond to me and didn't offer much help. They said each piece is unique, which is fine, but I let them know I wanted something similar or close to the main product picture. They told me to do a search on google or Amazon to see what else they offered which gave me absolutely no help since I can't choose a piece with that information. All I wanted was a simple exchange or for someone to tell me that nothing they have looks like the original picture and they couldn't do that. So, to wrap it up, if you don't care what your piece looks like, this will be perfect for you. If you want something specific, I'd look elsewhere. I'm not unhappy with the product as much as I'm unhappy with customer service. To get all my messages replied to took a total of 2 weeks to get me nowhere. I just hope the person I got this for likes it..
