I loved having the ability to engrave my brothers unique name into instrument for his birthday gift. It arrived just I time. What an interesting and intriguing gift choice! The sound of it is soothing even if you don’t yet know the cords. It is easy to use. It came with a toning tool, sack and finger covers for strumming. The size and portability of the instrument are perfect for traveling or passing time while waiting.

This was a novelty order for me. I had never heard of one, but was eager to try it out. So.....I'm still doing so, attempting to learn to play it. It works along the lines of a piano or guitar, and is made of quality materials. I'm still learning, and finding it fun. I'll come back in a month or so, when I've learned more. It's a unique instrument, & I'm saving fun learning it. It seems fairly easy, but does require some musical ability & skill. We tone is lovely, & tuning it is fairly easy.

I collect a bunch of simple instruments to use at LARP and entertain my bird with and this is one of my favorites. It sounds like a music box and it's pretty easy to pick up once you grok how it is supposed to work.The keys kind of alternate, splitting each note from the scale to the left and right which is weird at first but they're arranged so that if you strike two notes on one side simultaneously that are next to each other they harmonize really well. If you want even better harmony you can find the corresponding cord with the same notes on the other side (it'll be up or down an octave) and train yourself to play both at once and it resonates very nicely.It's going to take a while to get really good at using it but I can already do some simple chords to back vocals and some simple harmonies. I even fell asleep practicing once and discovered I was still playing while I was nodding off. It's kind of relaxing when you get into it.I gotta get one for my brother, he'll be better at it than I will be. It seems like it would make a really nice gift for someone who enjoys tinkering with musical instruments. Great look and sound.

This kalimba set comes with absolutely everything to get started. The tuning hammer in particular is very appreciated for getting this thing to sound perfect. The included storage pouch is a bit impractical in that it will snag keys and potentially throw the kalimba out of tune, but so long as you're careful it shouldn't be an issue.The wood itself is quite pretty and provides a good sound quality. The resonance doesn't feel 'buzzy' but has that proper warm music box tone you're looking for.This is a fantastic value for anyone who is musical and makes for a fun gift for any occasion. Seriously, at under $20 this is too nice to pass up on!

Great product! I have had souvenir thumb pianos before, but this one is really way better. Came very close to in tune (most wouldn't even notice an issue), and it was easy to adjust with the nice little tapping hammer they provide. My 6 year old daughter has been learning piano and picked it up and started playing her songs on it because the notes are labeled, which is awesome! I think this is a fun little instrument to have out and ready to pick up and it really looks nice. Since it is tuned to a C major scale, you can't really play a wrong note, so it is great for musicians of any skill level.

I'm not a professional Kalimba player--just your average joe music grad--but this thing looks and feels good to me. It came perfectly in tune, and it's just plain fun to keep on my desk and play with from time to time. I think it'll be nice to take on short trips to bring a little music along.
