This is a high quality step up ring kit. I got this to step up my lens filter to an 82mm as i purchase al my filters in 82mm for compatibility. The step up ring is crafted much better than some of the lower end brands that i have used in the past.

I’m not a fan of step rings because good ones (brass) are expensive when an aluminum gets stuck it ruins the day. Just the same good filters are even more expensive, so, at least for me, step rings are necessity for lesser used lenses in my kit. I’m not going to spend $100+ on a filter for a lens I only use a few times a year. And that’s where this magnetic step ring comes in.On paper this step ring looks like a great solution to the drudgery of using step rings. And I think it can be if you invest in the Revolution System for all your lenses. But for me, having just this one inlaid ring (plus step ring) it was less of short cut than and more of a different path to the same location. It works as advertised but I think it requires going all-in. If you just need one step ring it’s not worth the effort.I blame myself not really understanding how it worked and the system before ordering it, thinking it would magically take the work out of using step rings with filters. Here is a thumbnail sketch of how it works.1. Screw inlaid adapter into the smaller lens (presumably it will stay there “permanently” and not a step taken every time).2. Screw filter into magnetic step ring3. Step ring magnetically attaches to inlaid adapter on smaller lens4. To remove do reverse except that a special tool is required to remove the inlaid adapter if you want to move it to a different lens, but since this is a “system” I think the intention is to buy inlaid adapters for all your lenses smaller than whatever the size of the step ring is.In my case, I do have multiple lens that are 72, 77, and 82mm, but I have dedicated filters for them. It’s just my lesser used 67mm lenses I don’t have filters for that I need step rings. So, as a one-off in this way it doesn’t really make life easier for me. If I had inlaid adapters on all my lenses, then I can see the value to the system. Also, unlike the ubiquitous filter wrench, the tool needed to remove the inlaid adapter is proprietary. If you lose it when out of town you can’t just walk into a camera store and buy another.
