I rarely write reviews but thought this would help others!I bought my first kayak (10ft) a month ago and originally was just laying it on my roof rack with some ratchets holding it down. Since the pandemic, a lot of places are sold out or charge extremely high prices for these type of racks (i.e. dicks sporting goods).I bought 2 sets of these racks for my car (my siblings have kayaks as well). As a young adult female, I was able to easily figure this out and assemble it myself on the roof rack of my car (no prep work required). The great thing about these racks is they only take 5-10 minutes to install on/off your car (and thats with my set of 2). After a few tries, I was even able to put the kayak on the holder by myself as well.I was very fortunate and am able to fit/park my SUV in the garage without having to take off the roof racks (shown in pics). Obviously, cannot fit the car in the garge with kayaks on but its nice to be able to leave the racks on and just take the kayak off before entering the grage. I believe the rack height from top to bottom is about 16 inches and I had about an inch to spare pulling into my garage. Another added bonus of this rack!Lastly, its nice the seller includes the tie-downs as well, which work well (black ones shown in picture, I added my own green ratchet around both kayaks just as extra precaution). I personally started using my own ratchet which felt more sturdy but again, the ones that came with it work just as well.Overall: Amazing value, great quality, easy installation, sturdy, and great for your kayak/paddle board needs!

Was a bit confused on the shipping. I ordered 3 sets of these hoping they would accommodate 3 kayaks on my girlfriend's 2017 Subaru Forrester. The price was right and shipping was free.... I did not know the order shipped in two separate containers (two sets shipped in one box, the third set came by itself) because I was only provided tracking information for one box. After the first box arrived, I sent a note to the seller who assured me the second box would arrive within the next couple of days. It did..... All three racks were as described. They fit wonderfully on the car. And they work well. Can't speak to long term durability since I've only had them for less than three weeks. But, they work well and came with all the straps indicated. Can't wait to haul our kayaks off on our next adventure! (please note: the racks include the front and rear tie down straps. I removed the straps prior to taking the picture so I could access the rear hatch of the car)

Purchased these racks to attach to a set of stock cross bars on a 2015 Subaru Forester to transport a kayak. If you're looking for a set of no-frill straight forward racks then look no further. These will be exactly what you need.Great quality for the price and they include everything needed. They bolt up easily enough for the average person that knows how to use a wrench. They also come with a set of large wing nuts for temporary use, rather than the standard nuts, if you're not looking to leave them attached permanently. A standard 8 foot kayak fits snugly and the J-bars are padded in just enough spots to keep the kayak protected. The straps are decent enough quality to not cause any concern and are straightforward to use, if not a little short. The only 2 drawbacks I can mention are that the racks seem to be designed more for use on a rounded style cross bar rather than a flatter crossbar. As the mounting brackets really only make contact with the outer most edges of the cross bar if it's a flatter style bar. But they tighten down and are plenty sturdy enough for this to really be of no concern, it just looks a little concerning at first glance. The only other drawback, as mentioned above, is that the included straps are only 8 feet in length. They end up being JUST long enough to wrap around the J-bars and the kayak. I prefer to wrap around the kayak/J-bars PLUS the cross bar itself for extra security. But if you're okay with only strapping around the kayak/J-bar the included straps will do just that with not much slack to spare. It does become a little difficult to get the strap in exactly the right place to cinch it down since there isn't much slack to play with. For the price of these racks the straps aren't really much a concern, as a new set of 16" straps (double the length that's included) can be purchased for under $10.Overall, the these racks are perfect choice for someone who just wants a simple, reliable, and sturdy rack without breaking the bank.
