This machine succeeded in running five loads in the week and a half since we bought it but then it refused to drain the water in the tub and stopped responding to button presses.Sear's support has been terrible, easily the worst customer experience I've had in a very long time. Multiple times my call has been dropped when I'm being transferred either by the automated system or by a customer service agent but that's just the beginning...On Saturday the machine quit working, I called support and after waiting on hold the agent walked me through some troubleshooting steps and it looked like maybe it was going to work. I was told it was going through a calibration cycle and should not be interrupted so I left it alone overnight. On Sunday the machine was still locked so I realized it was clearly not fixed. I call support again and am informed they won't be able to send a technician out under the warranty until Thursday and that he'd arrive on Thursday between 1 and 5, a full four hour window. While frustrating, I get that techs aren't always available.Where I really lost it was when Thursday rolled around and the tech NEVER SHOWED UP. I received NO phone call NOTHING. I called support again to ask about the tech and am informed I'll have to reschedule for next Wednesday, almost another full week out. Look, I get you can't just bump someone else from their slot but you can't schedule a tech to work overtime? If I missed our appointment and you bumped me back a week I'd understand but you miss the appointment and push me back a week and without even calling, really? To sum it up here, in the first three weeks I've had this machine it has been unusable for one and a half. Somehow buying this machine has been worse than just using my old broken machine that couldn't finish a spin cycle.Next time I think I'll be saving my pennies for a Samsung...Update: They made it to the second appointment! Turns out the water pump died at a ripe old age of a week and a half. Predictably they won't be back out to replace it for another 8 days. This machine has officially been broken for the majority of the time I've had it.Oh, and as a side note, Sears may be filing for bankruptcy in the near future (gee, I wonder why) and it sounds like if they do there is a strong possibility that the warranties on their brands of appliances, such as Kenmore, may no longer be honored if they do. Buyer beware...

Nice basic machine with no frills. I would prefer one that was even simpler where I could just set my own water level instead of the "auto", which is just one more thing to go wrong. I like that it has a flat metal top as we often store heavy pots on it. I didn't want glass or a curved aerodynamic top. The machine it replaced was a high end LG that only lasted 5 years. The LG has "smart" diagnosis that linked to a cell phone. This feature didn't work as it it just gave us an error code that was no help. Previously we had an expensive front loading Maytag that similarly didn't last very long and had mold issues. This machine is similar to our older machines that lasted many years so we have hope. The price is low enough that I wouldn't feel the need to ever repair it. It has an old fashion real agitator center post and does as good job of cleaning. After all, the purpose of a washing machine is to get clothes clean not not to save water! (I could save even more water by wearing dirty clothes!).Amazon has a great price. I paid $588 at Sears and was told it was "on sale". The next week I kept getting pop-ups on my PC that the price was $499 at Sears. I called for a price adjustment and after spending a long time on the phone I was told I need to go to the store to get an adjustment. I went to the store and was told that the $499 sale was over and the price was now $620!. I even had a print out of the Sears ad at $499, but they wouldn't honor. Then I noticed the Amazon price was only $449, so I returned the washer to Sears and got the identical one delivered from Amazon for $449! Yes, it took considerable efforts, but I am now happy and saved $184. Sears also wanted an additional $25 to remove my old machine and $20 for hoses that I didn't want. Amazon removed my old machine for free and also was going to supply hoses. I didn't want the hoses because I wanted to use the upgraded stainless hoses that I had already purchased from Amazon. I originally told Sears I didn't want to buy the hoses, but they put them on the order anyway. It has been over a month now and we are still very happy with machine. My wife was very happy about being able to wash our largest comforter without getting a "balance error" like our old LG use to often do. This machine works hard and doesn't complain!
