Perfect little heater. Living in a rural area in the winter time can mean no electricity when there's an inch of snow or ice. This kerosene heater throws out good heat. Easy to set up and use. Definitely would recommend. Haven't tried cooking on it yet but it looks simple enough to do so.

After you light it you need to keep lowering it until you see no flame it’s been taking 4-5 slight lowers one fill last like 9 hrs if your doing it right I seen people having trouble with it on the reviews I’m glad I took a chance I can’t lift those huge white ones this one is so much lighter I’ve had no trouble with it I use a candle lighter to light it very glad I bought this

I gave it a good test the other night,it got down to 12 degrees and it and one electric heater kept the whole house warm until it got down to 12 degrees and the wind blew against the house and you could feel the cold creeping in.I switched to a a larger BTU heater and warmed the house back up. It was not designed to heat a whole house and it really did a good job. There was always a kerosene odor about it,it may be the burner design or the paint curing out, time will tell. The filler cap is quite tight to begin with and had to be turned with the fingers on both hands,it is loosening up a little now. I painted some marks on the cap and the top of the tank to align it with the notches in the tank to make it easier to replace it in the tank.I set a small pan on top of it and filled it up with 3/4 cold water,it boiled a rolling boil in 21 minutes,I lowered the top of the heater down(it slides, and is adjustable) to get it closer to the glowing mesh and it boiled in 19 minutes.I have not removed the center of the top yet and used a larger pan as yet but it should make it work quicker.I painted a mark on the wick raising knob so i could count the turns as it is black with no features to do so, Turning it down all the way in the extinguishing position to start,i turn it to the right one full turn and then another half a turn to raise the wick where it can be lit. Once lit you must give it time(several minutes) to heat the chimney up before it will heat the wire mesh burner. It is kerosene (not gas) so it is a lot slower to heat up,After the warm up you need to adjust the wick up or down to make the wire mesh burner red and not let the flame run above the mesh burner. You need to take time to learn how to operate it to get the most out of it,it works good, always make sure the burner is setting down in its grove so it is not cocked up which will make it flare up.One more thing, when turning the heater off ,turn the wick knob to the left (slowly) give it time to adjust the flame till its out, turning it to the left fast will cause a flare up of the flame above the whole heater about a foot with smoke. It is a servicable heater without a self extinguisher, with a acclaimed leak proof tank,it is a manually adjusted machine and its more like the heaters from years ago,I like it better as the self extinguishers on these modern heaters are a nightmare to keep them running, one bump and there out,the ratchet teeth wear out and you cant keep them on.You set the wick on this heater and it stays where you put it till you move it manually.

Read, followed instructions and lit on first try, got the green one with two extra wicks (one pre loaded)...warmed my camper, boiled a kettle of water in aboilut 15mins, no electricity required, exactly the circuitless backup heater i was wanting.&update* after several months of occasional use. The one main con is the three screw knobs to adjust the height of the stove top are junk thread inserts that all stripped quickly. To fix, I got three nut/bolt pairs and gorilla glued the nuts onto the knob handles to make my own threads that could tighten without stripping, And thus be able to adjust the height of the stove top again.
