My old brushless Ridgid drill had a chuck problem, not holdig small bits well, and caused excessive wobble. After finding I need 20 UNF chuck (FYI, old ones use Jacobs chuck which uses 20 UNF, but more recent ones do not) I ordered this.As everyone can notice, this one's design is different. It has upper and lower parts, and upper parts lock the chuck and lower parts just rotates.I actually prefer this style, as I can hold the lower part and twist the upper part if something gets stuck. But the quality was so-so.The top cap part was not very secured so it was moving, and after installing it, wobble of drill bits was rather big.As I am only using this for homeowner stuff, I am mostly OK with it. It was still far better than my old chuck's wobble. However, if I am asked whether this is a worthy chuck to repair name brand drills, I am not sure. So, I think this is probably a good chuck to replace drills used for homeowner stuff. It's all metal, and this is definitly better than plastic chucks. But if I have to repair high end Milwaukee or Dewalt drill, I'd go for OEM one, or Rohm chucks.

I like my Milwaukee drill, but I wore out the grip in it. This looked interesting for the price. This is clearly not identical going by the design, but that's ok. The reason I took one star off is because it's loose in areas it shouldn't be. It still works but the quality isn't there.

Chose this as a replacement for the keyless chuck that comes installed on the Milwaukee M12 2504-20 uncertain as to whether or not it would fit. I can confirm that it does, and it installs nicely and to the same depth as the OE chuck. The retaining screw may not run quite as deep into the output shaft, but it's plenty deep for me to be confident that it's holding the chuck securely.Once installed, it added about 1/4" to the overall length of the drill body, but this chuck design has a two-piece housing that allows for better tightening, as you can grasp the base of the chuck and rotate the tightening collar freely. So far it's performed great with light testing. Seems to perform better than the OE chuck, and the quality of construction and materials is very nice and the knurling is even and fine, though I suspect it may be a little shallow and end up smoothing over sooner than I'd prefer. I'm not really concerned about this, though, as at present it affords an excellent grip, even when I'm wearing welding gloves.

Well build and would work great for my drill, except my drill is 3/8 and not 1/2 spindle. My fault, but I couldn't get the spindle off and Ryobi and Home Depot didn't say what it was on their websites. I guessed wrong. I'll use it on one of my others when the chuck eventully goes out on them.Just remembered that I had a Dewalt with a faulty chuck (I hadn't used that drill for so long I forgot why) so I used this on it. Just so you know what I did and if you have a Dewalt cordless drill maybe it will help you.Tools Needed1. T20 Torx screwdriver to take out the screw inside the chuck. With chuck all the way open use the T20 to turn the screw CLOCKWISE. It's reverse threaded so on this righty loosy lefty tighty2. Take a Large Torx Socket (I have these in my mechanics tool set). I used the T50 because it's really stout. Attach this to a 3/8 breaker bar (or 1/2 inch with an adapter) put the T50 inside the chuck and tighten it all the way. Put it on a cement block with the chuck overhanging the edge of the brick. Use the breaker bar to break the chuck loose by pulling it towards you (clockwise, left as you look at the drill from the front). You may have to do this a couple times to break it free. This is the easy way, Using the Allen Key method with a rubber mallet is the hard.3. Reverse what you did for the new chuck. Tighten it on with the T50 and breaker bar, put in the T20 torx head screw, Turn to the left until its tight then done. (note the installation of the new chuck can be helped by letting the drill do the work.

This chuck feels decently well made but it is definitely noticeably lighter than a real chuck from a brand name. It had some hollow stamped steel in it. The self tightening works fine but it takes way more rotations than expected to tighten. Overall it's decent, just realize it's not going to be the same as brand name.

I frequently work on projects where I need the speed and versatility of my Milwaukee impact driver, but don't always have the appropriate bit with the 1/4-in hex shank for quick connection. This chuck solves that problem, by converting the 1/4 impact driver into a drill with a keyless chuck. The chuck is easily adapted for use by attaching a standard threaded shank with a 1/4-in hex end for quick attachment. The chuck is very well constructed and pairs perfectly with Milwaukee drills. Overall, a great addition for the tool box that should work on most tool brands. NOTE: The chuck does not include the 1/4-in shank. However there are many options available that will allow converting the chuck for quick connecting using various shank sizes, such as 1/4-in hex, SDS-Plus or 1/2-in square.

I usually use keyed chucks because they hold the drill bits better especially for heavy drilling, like metal. I got this to try the keyless again because having to deal with chuck keys is distracting. This one is a good replacement. It's good, solid metal with a tight spin on the bit install. It holds the bits well, even under heavy or long drilling and lets go of the bit afterwards very smoothly. It helps to have some experience changing chucks with the reverse thread bolt in the mouth and how tight the chuck you're removing usually is, but once I got past that, this new chuck went on easily and fit perfectly. I just wish that there would have been a reverse thread bolt replacement with the new chuck in case there were any problems with the one you remove. You won't find one at any hardware store. I do like this chuck and recommend it over any other ones I've ever gotten.
