This replaced a dual voice coil audiobahn (sp?) sub which was actually a decent sub that was ~$100 from walmart. I am not an audio guy so I didn't know there was a difference between a sub that goes in a box in the trunk and this "open air" sub but there must be. Not sure if this sub is just that much better or that it is designed for open mounting but let me tell you, HUGE IMPROVEMENT! Everything else about the system was the same but when I changed out the sub, it didn't just vibrate, it make the sounds you would expect and its loud! Like most things I guess you get what you pay for and it was painful to drop $350 on this but it sounds great. I am not going to hook up the lights so I can't speak to that.

I was looking for some bottom end for my Sea Hunt 25 Gamefish and this definitely gave me more than I bargained for. I am pushing it with a Fusion amp and I normally have the bass no higher than half of what it can push because I don't want to blow my family out of the boat! I highly recommend it unless you just want to make everyone mad at the sandbar....then go with the Fusion 12 or JL 12. This Kicker puts out plenty for me!

Yes they go Boom. Give them plenty of power and they do make a nice full sound. I put 2 of them on my center console and I'm happy. Hopefully they last in the Florida sun. I'll report back when they stop producing great sounds but until then turn it up!! :-) I also like the lighted grilles. Yes, they are a little pricey, but for the money a decent choice, there aren't really very many marine rated subs available.
