Symphony conductors, band leaders and choral directors specifically request the baton because it is consistent in quality, balance and weight. Conductors experience less fatigue with King David batons due to their light weight and balance. The shafts are made of the finest straight grain birch and maple - kiln dried to prevent warp. The white high luster coating is heat set to provide long service and lasting beauty.

I gave it to our orchestra leader. He loves it. The rainbow handle adds a bit of "pop" to the baton. We are a mixed group of adult beginners and folks who have been playing forever. The rainbow ended up being symbolic to him of our mix. As for the baton, he slaps it on the edge of the music stand. After reading some of the reviews, that makes me cringe a little bit, thinking it will fly apart. So far it can take it! I see that he keeps it in the very strong plastic tube in his violin case for transport. I like that at least it will arrive safely even if he waves it frantically at us when we rush the rhythm.

Low quality. Black ring where handle meets shaft is off center, makes it look cheap and poorly crafted. Was not advised there was writing up the shaft of the baton- branded "King David" with the model number. I thought this was going to be the perfect gift for a friend, but not so much. Very disappointed.

Beautiful wood. Sturdy directing baton. Made a very nice graduation gift for my Music Major son!

Good feel, nice coloring, not too heavy or light; just the right length. Oh and one of the best parts, the plastic tube that holds the baton is a nice durable plastic. I'm not worried about cracking it or breaking it through normal use. So I expect the baton to last a long time.

Great look! 14 inch length quite accurate. Needs a little more weight. Take good care of it; its not very sturdy. I lost mine already when I accidentally put Norton's Anthology of English Literature on it... :(
