The bodkin is one of the unsung hero tools on anyones tying bench. I use it for teasing materials in to the perfect alignment, applying small dabs of sealer or glue, guiding thread in to position for complex features, etc. This bodkin is well constructed and adds a bit of flair to the bench given that it is made from brass. An added feature is the taper and hole on the end opposite the needle. This works perfectly for tying half hitches partway through the tying process to secure the thread before whip finishing. I already had a lower quality bodkin but that will be relegated to applying glue and sealant and this new one will be used for everything else.

It's nothing fancy or special as bodkins go but highly functional. I ordered the plain old brass but it comes in a variety of colors if you're more particular. I use bodkins primarily for fly tying but they lend themselves to many other uses. This one has a relatively dull point (which I prefer) but can easily be sharpened using sandpaper if you so desire. I tend to hold the bodkin like a ballpoint pen when I'm doing intricate work and this one is easy to grasp and keep steady when fiddling with glue or preening dubbing. Great little tool and an absolute must-have whether you're a novice or seasoned fly tyer. And YES, Kingfisher never disappoints.

This bodkin is just perfect for me! I love the way it fits in my hand, and the red handle makes it so easy to spot on my work table. It is thin and slightly flexible with a nice point on it. I can tell that this is going to be a longtime companion when making fishing flies, and for so many other craft projects!

While a simple tool this little pick is nice for separating materials or roughing up your fly. I wish it was a little roughed up on one side but I use a small wired straw brush for that. Overall I have no issues and would recommend.

Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. At exactly 5" long (measured) with a 2" thick end, it's not very large so it's incredibly easy to handle. The grey colour is clearly painted on so it's not just a stainless steel, which I prefer because it doesn't reflect as much light into my eyes from my work lamp. The tip is also perfectly flat and not sharp enough to cut through tying material, and the butt end fits up to a size #8 hook eye. Nice smooth bevel too, perfect for finishing knots. Pretty standard and simple flying tying tool. Thumbs up!

Toothpicks also work but nice to have when putting glue in tight spots or clearing eyelet. The bottom hole is slightly off center but shouldn't really effect knot tying.

As I’ve come to expect from Kingfisher products, this bodkin is exactly what I hoped and expected. This is an incredibly simple product, so there’s little that separates this from similar offerings, other than I noticed that the handle is ever so slightly thicker than the bodkin I already own (the difference is completely immaterial but a positive, if anything). The extra thickness may simply be due to the enamel coating. The enamel seems to be the same as used on other Kingfisher products I’ve ordered, which has held up well on all of those products (some of which are used and abused, unlike this tool), so I anticipate it holding up well over time. The color I received (green) looked pretty spot on with how it was represented in the listing photo. No complaints

This is just as I was expecting and is a good size and strength. I find the kingfisher brand to have quite good quality for the price point for most of their items and this one fits the brand.

Great quality. The bodkin is solid, not flexible. Easy grip, and a taper on the handle end with a hole so I can tie off hitch knots. This is a keeper.

A bodkin is a bodkin is a bodkin, right? So what am I doing removing a star? Sure, they all just need to be pointy and able to tease out that tight dubbing, and this can do that. But I find this one unnecessarily long and not as thin as a higher quality bodkin. It will get the job done, the price is right, and it’s perfectly fine if you’re build your fly tying tool box, but it’s not the best. Its much more affordable than my “slick” bodkin, so I do recommend it if you’re not after top-of-the-line tools.

Not much to say, it does what it should. No frills. Feels good in the hand. I might add some heatshrink to the handle just to make it a little bigger. I do that with some of my tools to give me just a little more control. That's an especially good trick on cheap whip finishers. The needle part is plenty long and sharp. Great for picking out hackle and legs that may be trapped in a wrap.

Helpful for fluffing up your flies after tying or using them if they're soggy/flattened.
