I was skeptical buying this because of the reviews. but I am a true fan of Kitchenaid. they make good quality stuff. I think this works just fine and haven't had any issue with it.

You can’t go wrong with KitchenAid utensils. It’s a well-made slicer that should last a long time. I’d recommend it for softer cheese, but harder blocks like cheddar are more difficult. Overall it’s a quality product!

The slicer works well out of the box, and has a premium feel and look, commensurate with the price you pay to have a kitchen aid product. Unfortunately, we've noticed over time that the wire that does the cutting has become more slack over time, making it harder to use. The wire is retained with a pair of Phillips head screws that the wire is wrapped around once or twice. Trying to re-tension the wire has proved challenging, and it starts to loosen all over again after when we manage to do it. Even just having a screw with a tighter pitch would allow for more clamping force to stop this from happening. These complaints feel nit-picky, but for a device that's sole use is slicing cheese with a wire, I would expect something more robust. If I had to do it again, I'd just pick the cheapest wire slicer I could find (or resign myself to using the slice side of the cheese grater).

Nice and sturdy. Like the handle. Hope it lasts as long as my vintage one.

Probably the worst cheese slicer ever made. It's super cheap, wire comes loose and is not adjustable.

This is our second one. The wire on the first one came loose while just cutting sharp cheddar. Hoping just got a bad one the first time. Thank you Amazon for your great return policy!

The wire on this cheese slicer does not last long (4 months to be exact) and I maybe used it once or twice a week. The quality of KitchenAid products is definitely not there anymore. I'm 38 and slowly replacing KitchenAid utensils I bought in my mid 20s and the new products are garbage. I will be looking for a new brand with better quality.

This was larger than expected, able to handle almost 4" slabs of cheese. Just adjust the angle to adjust the thickness of the slice. Cuts and cleans faster than a knife.

I use a cheese slicer at home to slice cheddar from 2lb or 5lb chubs. I average one or two slices daily. This Kitchen Aid slicer wire has loosened and the retaining screws won't turn to tighten/adjust it. It does have a nice strong handle that lets me apply strong pressure without the handle twisting in my hand, unlike the Bellemain slicer that I bought at the same time. The Bellemain handle is smaller and tends to twist but I use it rather than the Kitchen Aid because the Kitchen Aid slicer wire is floppy and defies tightening. I have used the Kitchen Aid slicer 5 or 6 times over the past month and am returning it. (The Bellemain slicer wire setup is awesome, by the way.)
