This is the first Knipex product I'm regretting purchasing. Works OK for wire like TEW but pretty much useless for THHN and anything similar and if you need to strip PTFE or high temp rated wire it doesn't even try. Have them adjusted as tight as they will go and they still won't grab tightly enough. The 6-28 gauge claim is pretty bold as well. I haven't been able to get them to strip anything smaller then 18 AWG successful without either cutting the copper strands or having the blades just slip over the insulation and anything larger then 14 AWG is pretty much impossible as the jaws don't grip tightly enough.Extremely disappointing wish I found out they where this bad when I still had the chance to return them.

Well, not sure where to begin with these. Half of my tools are of this brand and I really like them. So I decided to give these a go. well they only work on MTW wire. So Useless for the most part, and at this price. Going back.. Unless you do all panel work these with just take up space. They should make a big point that they only work on special insulations. Very very disapointed with this.

This unit DOES NOT work with romex wire or thhn as the sleeves are too hard. you will need KNIPEX 12 62 180 for those type of wire. I own both and this has a softer grip so it is a lot better on delicate electronic wire or silicone psu wire.

Won't strip #12 pump cable at all. It'll strip #14, if it's new and not super cold. It's great for wires with "normal" sheathing. Fast and easy. I'm just disappointed it won't strip the wire I bought it for.

Saw Adam Savage with his favorite things of 2024...He loved these wire strippers and I have gone through so many of the the strippers with the various sized holes, i thought it was time to bite the bullet. They are really cool and do a great job. I bought another pair for my son who is also a home handyman!!!

This is a great tool for working with romex. If you want it to work well, you will need to spend a couple of minutes learning how to use it best. I find a turn of the wrist along the axis of the wire to work best for hard insulations. The inline motion of stripping work great for tight spaces where traditional right angle strippers get in the way.

These do what I WISH my other wire strippers could do. I’ve owned and used a bunch of different types of wire strippers over the years as an engineer. I mostly use these to build small electronics including RC cars/trucks, and FPV drones. The adjustable dial allows you to fine tune the tool for different types of insulation. I have tried stripping every type of wire that I can find around my workshop including small signal wires(various 24awg-30awg), larger battery wires (silicone 8awg-14awg), low quality wires in various sizes, high quality silicone wires in various sizes, and these strippers produced a perfect strip every time! I believe they will last a long time and the replaceable blades means these will probably outlast me! There are cheaper automatic strippers out there but I wanted a pair that worked flawlessly and produced professional, clean results, every time, without effort… I couldn’t be happier! If you are on the fence, just get them, you won’t be disappointed. Another banger for Knipex, well done!
