I had to loosen some 9/16 bolts holding together a 90 year old wrought iron structure to repair the structure. I believe the bolts heads had been ornamentally hammered when the structure was made to better fit the structure aesthetically. As such, wrenches and sockets did not fit. Pipe wrenches were too big for the available clearance. These fit right in and clamped onto the irregular bolt heads. They tighten against the bolt as you twist, like a pipe wrench. They worked fantastic in gripping the bolts sufficiently to break them loose of 90 years of rust and grime. They do chew up the heads a bit as they dig in, but that was OK for my project, as long as the old bolts came loose. Well worth the money.

Works really well, the jaws lock onto pipe and fittings, and if they do slip you have the option to squeeze the handles to limit slipping on tough fittings like SS and rough brass, does the same job as a Ridgid pipe wrench with less slippage

I first used these to get a set of rear stabilizer bar links off of a Nissan and the pliers gripped very well at first, but when the nut on the end link was about halfway off the teeth stripped. I ended up using a set of Channellock Nut Buster pliers to finish the job.I rated the pliers 3 stars because Knipex warrantied them quickly and painlessly (...I e-mailed them the attached pics and filled out a form). It could have just been a defect with the pliers I initially received--they do seem to be well-made, otherwise.

This is for those times when you need the wrench to grip and remain tight but a ViceGrip is too small. Wonderful wrench. Well made and easy to use.

Great product and narrower than a standard pipe wrench which is what I was looking for. The teeth grab black pipe and fittings perfect. HVAC tech and I recommend this product. Just takes some getting used to since it adjusts different.

This works great on rounded off bolts and nuts and pipes and odd shaped things. I’ve used it five or six times just on rounded off brake line fittings since I purchased it. My buddy had bought the same one on the tool truck and paid over twice as much for his

No dislikes. Worked very well in oil field truck plumbing. Will take the abuse of a mobile diesel technician in West Texas.

These have replaced my regular pipe wrenches. I use these for gasfitting and they are awesome. If you have the need for them you won't be disappointed.

tried this out ! was skeptical! I am a refrigeration and food service technician! slim design is good! the grip it has is what i like about it most! its amazing! my one complaint is that its hard to open one handed and keep it open and place on a fitting! but the grip it has makes up for it so ill deal with it! although im getting better at it the more i use it! ive had it a few months now! it replaced one of my channel locks in my tool bag!

I am a die hard Ridgid pipe wrench user but I thought I would give this a try after hearing about the great quality of Knipex. The one great advantage is the narrow jaws which allow it to fit into spots a regular pipe wrench might not. Also it ratchets nicely for quicker tightening.
