A tool designed with your hand in mind. Even more power for easier working! KNIPEX quality-engineered and manufactured in Germany. If you’re looking for a tool to help with stripping off varnished insulation on copper wires, look no further than the Coated-Wire Stripping Tweezers from KNIPEX. Made of spring steel and oil-hardened, these tweezers include precisely milled blades for clean stripping. Blades for other wire diameters are available as spare parts. KNIPEX specializes in the development and production of high-quality pliers and is Europe's leading manufacturer of these products. It all started back in 1882 when C. Gustav Putsch set up his own forge shop in Cronenberg (now a suburb of Wuppertal). We are an independent fourth-generation family company. KNIPEX concentrates our knowledge and expertise on pliers. This is the only way to justify our claim that we are the best supplier in terms of quality, innovation and efficiency. Our success is assured by 800 qualified employees and we attach the greatest importance to their basic and advanced training.

Works well for about 22 gauge and larger. Is there a similar product that will work for 24, 26, and 28 gauge?

Good German made tool for stripping insulation off of magnet wire for RF coil winding.

I use these scrapers to remove the enamel on magnet wire I use to wind toroids. The enamel on magnet wire these days can’t be removed in all cases and these scrapers make short work of that!

Much easier and faster than either burning the enamel or scraping with a knife. My drop of the fifth star is because the smaller jaws need to be purchased separately, rather than an original option. You _can_ strip 28ga magnet wire with the stock 0.5mm jaws, but you need to fiddle a bit.All in all, a time saver!

Stripping magnet wire insulation is very easy with this tool. I use to clean ends of 22ga wire after winding toroids. This tool allows me to do so without bending or otherwise damaging the wire in the process. Much better than scraping with a razor knife or using sandpaper. Different size blades are also available. A must have for my workbench.

Tool arrived in just a few days in perfect condition from KC Tool in Olathe KS. I got this tool for stripping enameled wire used for winding toroids and I have to say it works beautifully. In the past I used a combination of sand paper and/or burning it off with a lighter but these were never very clean or efficient. With this tool it just takes a few pulls and the wire is shiny copper. Many thanks to Kirk, NT0Z, for mentioning this tool in his Nov 2015 column in The Spectrum Monitor; wish I had this years ago. The tool comes standard with 0.6 mm blades, suitable for about AWG 22 or larger. It's too small for 28 AWG, which I use quite a lot, so I will order a smaller tool, I expect it will work just as well. 73, Elwood, WB0OEW.
