Bought this to replace old hoover shampooer from the 1980s. Essentially similar design except for three speed control on this one. Does the job on heavily stained carpets which is what I bought it for. Like its earlier antecedents of similar design there is a problem with a sticking drop tank valve which also tends to leak. Not a serious defect but does require time and attention to clean and then check operation. Instructions could also be clearer as to mixture ratio of shampoo to water.

It does a good job the only thing is when you put the tank on it pours out water before you start it.

Okay, so I just received mine yesterday, fired it up this morning and tackled a heavy traffic area on my standard California apartment carpet.First, easy to assemble; seriously took about seven minutes from box to finished item.Second, easy to control with one hand! This thing is fairly light and once the brushes get moving, it glides along pretty well.Third, not much louder than my vacuum. Nice.As far as the cleaning goes, it will be a few hours before I can give a thumbs up or down, but the carpet fibers are already looking much better and fluffier than they did a little while ago.The only complaint I have is with the directions for the cleaning fluids. "Mix one part to twelve parts water," or "Mix with 40 parts water," etc. Come on, let's make this a bit simpler okay? All the containers are measured in ounces anyway, that would be a good place to start! All in all though, I like this machine. I guess the secret to get a clean carpet will depend on my ability to decipher the witchcraft on the cleaner bottles.

cleaner flow was very restricted by the plastic elbows. after some trial and error i found that replacing them with 1/4" copper tubing bent to approx. 90 degree angle the flow is much greater and much easier to control. i used this type of carpet cleaner when i was a boy and it still cleans alot better then the carpet cleaners used today. it actually scrubs the carpet to get the dirt out.. i have very light beige carpet and my suction type machine never really could clean it. after 2 cleanings this cleaner made it almost look new. i will clean it a couple more times which should totally clean it.BUY ONE AND USE IT. IT ALSO SCRUBBED MY KITCHEN FLOOR AND I WAS AMAZED AS THE AMOUNT OF DIRT CAME OUT WHEN I DRIED IT WITH PAPER TOWELS. MY WIFE USUALLY CLEANES THE FLOOR ON HER KNEES WITH A RAG AND SOAP. SHE WIIL BE SURPRISED WHEN SHE GETS HOME TODAY TO SEE HOW CLEAN IT IS.

It did a great scrubbing job on my tile floors, but it is very work intensive. Of course, you should vacuum first, but then you scrub and wash the floor to get up the scrubbed dirt. The instructions for the machine must have been written by someone who used to write forms and letters for the government. I'm sorry I spent the money.

I wanted a carpet shampooer vs steam cleaner. I found this online and decided to try it. I had some difficulty with the assembly, and I called Customer Service. They were wonderful! Patient and informative. The gentleman stayed on the line while I kind of fumbled with some parts. I finally got it together and was ready to use it. I wish I had known that there was no dry shampoo, even a starter bottle, because I couldn't find what was recommended in any store. I did use an off the shelf product that worked well. I shampooed my whole house, then went over it all with a steam cleaner. The results were great. I have two dogs, one a puppy, so there was plenty to clean. The shampooer got out spots that the steamer did not. I would highly recommend this shampooer!

I have several dogs and hard floors. The machine comes equipped with everything you need to start. It has a scrubbing brush, buffing pad and soft polishing pad. It also has a carpet cleaning brush, which I have not used. I was completely shocked at how much dirt this machine brought up. It does a way better job than damp mopping or by hand. It dispenses the fluid, but you have to mop it up as you go. I suggest cleaning/mopping in segments so you don't have to walk on the wet floor. The machine does not do a good job of cleaning edges because of it's bumper, so that still has to be cleaned manually. Also, be sure the handle is tilted down in the cleaning mode before you turn on the machine. Otherwise, it jumps all over the place.I also used the machine to hard wax my wood floors. I buffed the floors, then used the polishing pad. I did not run into problems with pads falling off. It did a beautiful job. My floors are really old and need to be redone, but they sure look nicer when polished to a high shine. This machine is solid and does the job. I use it several times a week!

I haven't even used the machine yet and already I'm unhappy with it. It took me more than 30 minutes to assemble it, working from instructions that were almost indecipherable and pictures tht looked like they were drawn by a second-grader. I found that if you dodn't put the thing together in exactly the right way (which the manual didn't bother telling you about) it would not go together. There were also parts that came with the machine that were not described in the manual. Once I use it, I may be happier, but I can't see why the manual can't be clearer.
